Using Sony Bravia TV as a monitor with Laptop containing Windows 7

I hooked up my Dell Studio 1555 laptop with a Vista 64 bit Home Premium system to my Sony Bravia TV with an HDMI cable.  Everything worked fine until I upgraded the system to Windows 7.  Now all I get is a black screen on the TV with the message "unsupported signal. Please check device output."  What happened ?  Did the Windows 7 upgrade remove something I need to use my TV as a monitor?  I removed the wireless WLAN utility as suggested.
Below is a list of the changes that were made by the upgrade. Can anyone help?
Internet Explorer 8 - Completed
IDT High Definition Audio CODEC - Completed
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family - Completed
 PowerDVD - Completed
 Dell Webcam Central - Completed
 Dell Touchpad - Completed
 McAfee SecurityCenter - Completed
 Dell Video Chat - Completed
 Quickset - Complete

What are the video specs on your laptop? Did you switch the monitor output on the laptop - it does not automatically detect the HDMI connection? I had the same issue with our inspiron 1525.

I connected with an HDMI cable and switched the monitor output on the laptop. I found a solution on another forum by going directly into the system and changing the resolution to a lower level . This seemed to solve the problem although I can not watcSmileSmileh both the TV and the laptop monitor at the same time as I did when I was using Vista.

Glad to hear you found a solution. I may be back in here as my next goal is to connect my new Studio XPS to our Sony....
