XPS 8000 Hard Drive Mounting Kit HDD1

All,

Frustrated. I can't seem to find any information on purchasing or having sent to me, a hard drive mounting kit to install a second hard drive to my wife's SX8000 which is the same as XPS 8000. I'm frustrated because they should have included this bracket inside the case.

Too bad this forum doesn't allow image attachments.

Any assistance please?

I just got off a one hour phone call with Dell sales and they CANNOT find a part number for me to order. Told them to call me back as I was tired of waiting.

When you place an order for an XPS 8000 and you order a second hard drive, I need the part they use to install the second hard drive. The drive rests flat against the side of the case.. It doesn't mount where the CD-ROM is, although I'm pretty close to ordering a 5.25" HDD mounting kit and place it there...

So frustrating.

I used a 5.25" mounting bracket to mount the HDD into the empty CD-ROM bay. It'll do since I had no choice. LOL

Oops, I was checking XPS, not Studio. My apologies.

Here's your service manual. There appears to be room for two drives adjacent to one another.

The XPS 8000 already has a bay for a second hard drive just on top/next to the first one.  Just slide the drive in the slot, put in two mounting screws and connect it with the available power connector and a SATA cable.  I just added another 1 TB drive to my XPS 8000 I purchased at Best Buy.  It took all of two minutes, if that. Another few minutes to add a Blu-ray burner.  Both were basically plug and play.   If you want to go all out, you can even fit two additional 2.5 inch drives in the open 3.5 inch bay, but you'll need to either swap out the PSU or get some Y power splitters and you will also need to use a SATA controller card because two optical and two hard drives use all available SATA ports on the MB.
