PE 2900 Xeon upgrade

Hi,

I have a PE 2900 5130 single CPU system

I am planning on moving to ESXi and would like more CPU power.

Whats the most powerfull CPU I can replace the 5130 with?

I was thinking a E5450 quad core 3 GHZ.  The spec is the same socket, bus speed and similar power use as the 5130.  I think this should give me double the processing ability to run multiple VM's on this machine.  Ideally i will go for a pair of CPU once I souce a heatsink for the empty CPU socket.

Is this correct thinking?  I see PE2900 advertised with those chips installed but I am wondering if its a different / revised main board in those.

Do you have a 2900 III (look for the little roman numeral 3 on the front (behind the bezel))? I believe that's the only one that can use Xeon 5200 and 5400 series processors.
