I want to upgrade my video card in my Dell Studio 540 and I am looking for suggestions and recommendations
my budget I am shooting for is $110 but as long as its under $150 I am ok
I was thinking about getting this one but wasn't sure if it would fit or have the right power

but if there is something better out there I would love to hear about it thanks
This was from an old post (not mine, nor my caps) on slickdeals. I don't know if this will help or not, but it's a start.
Your major constraint is the card size if you have two drives installed as I do. I think the original card is about 7" long so the new card has to be around the same size (I know the size is not always published). I'd say try anything that fits, assuming you don't have anything in the (useless) slots next to the video slot. I'm looking for an upgrade too, but haven't selected anything yet. Note, if you have two drives but haven't installed a second DVD drive, you can probably reposition the drive in the empty bay, but you'll need a longer SATA cable, some brackets, and some luck.
Oh, you might want to pay attention to the power requirements too. Some of these cards are real pigs, and without reason...
Dell doesn't design anything with upgrades in mind anymore (I guess the 6/7 series XPS may be exceptions). I'm getting tired of it because without updates, these boxes become dinoaurs before their time...

OK, YALL NOT READING MY COMPLETE POST. YOU CAN USE ATI 4850, 9800GT, 9800GTX, GTX 260, GTX 280, ANYTHING YOU WANT, IF YOU CHOOSE THE 1 HARD DRIVE CONFIGURATION. IF YOU CHOOSE THE 2 HARD DRIVE CONFIGURATION, ONE OF THE HARD DRIVE WILL MOST LIKELY BAR YOU FROM USING A 9 INCHES + VIDEO CARD.My studio desktop configuration is Q8200, 6 GB ram, 1 DVD drive, ONE 750GB HD and ONE PNY GTX 260 video card, everything fit fine.

ATI 4770 has a new core that is low power and about as fast as a 4850
so something like this would be a good for my Dell Studio 540?
