Monitor Black Inspiron 6400/e1505

Hi  this  week  my  monitor  went  black , When I power  it  on   if  does  a  quick  flash  of  the  window  startup  and  then  black  I can  hear  it  starting  but  black. I have  tryed to boot  from  window  disk  but  black  screen  useing  window ultmit  34 bit .  sny  help  out  there  ?  thanks

Plug it into an external monitor and boot it up. FN F8 toggles between the LCD and the monitor. If it looks good on the external monitor and black on the LCD then your backlight has probably gone out on the LCD.
