What drivers should I use for my networked printer?

Hi, this is in reguards to my DELL A-960 printer. I have it directly installed to my desktop computer (running Windows 7 x64 bit)in my computer room. I want to network it to my wireless laptop (running windows XP x32 bit). Do I use the disk for my printer and install the drivers from there on my laptop? or the Vista drivers from my desktop I am using on Windows 7 x64?

Ohh, for the record, the printer works flawlessly with the vista drivers on my desktop...that has windows 7 on it...

asharpjr,

The list that I located, says the printer is not compatable with Windows 7 and I see you got it working, so let's experiment.

Try downloading the Vista drivers and see if it installs. You might need to manually remove the previous printer drivers. Manual Printer Driver Removal

Vista 32-bit Drivers

Vista 64-bit Drivers

Good luck,

Rick

Re: What drivers should I use for my networked printer?

asharpjr,

Finally got a chance to try Windows 7.

Disconnect the printer, run the patch, if it works, Manual Printer Driver Removal Restart your computer.

When you go to install the drivers, right click on the drivers, then left click properties. Then click on compability mode. Select Vista(I tried Vista SP2). If the file unzips and sits there, the right click on setup.exe, then left click properties and select Vista. Then right click on the setup.exe file, left click run as  administrator and it should try to install. Make sure you Download Latest Java before you do this.
