I had a 17" HP, which was like a brick. I let my daughter steal it from me. Then I ordered a beautiful mini 10, in purple muse. However, some of my programs wouldn't run, under any settings (e.g., Quicken 2007). So I called Customer Service, expecting to have a pay a restocking fee. Not only did I not have to pay a restocking fee, but I was asked if I wanted to return the extra battery I had bought, as well. I was so impressed, I bought an inspiron 1440 in purple (see a pattern here?). I am still in production a week later, and am disappointed I can't find many reviews, because I am excited to get this computer. Anyway, yesterday Dell called, telling me they had recieved my package, and my credit would be posted within 5 days. Wow.
Anyway, I see a lot of posts about bad customer service experience, and I just wanted to say I had a great one.
"Have you looked at the number of post he has and estimate the time each post takes, plus the reading time."
I"m not sure what you're trying to say. Have you looked at your own post count?
As of 10/25/2009.....
bdgates has 113 posts in 61 days, an average of 1.85 posts a day.
hrova has 3581 posts in 2171 days, an average of 1.65 posts a day.
Regardless, your posts in this thread prove something I said earlier in this thread:
"The positive experiences outweigh the negatives, but the negatives make a lot of noise about it."
I hope you remember your promise from one of your deleted posts last week - I am not worth a reply.....
Well I apologize to DELL for stating they underclocked the machine they sent to me. I have now found out it is the result of a faulty BIOS and because it was showing two frequencies on the same page I assumed the lower one was the frequency it had been locked at http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb274/mykel100/Photo0022.jpg but it was just a fault, both frequencies should be showing has the same, but I now have it showing the correct data. Although the machine was shipped at a lower frequency than advertised this is because DELL didnt set up the BIOS but just shipped it with default settings and if they had taken the time to set up the BIOS they would have noticed it was faulty. Ive decided to just try and get a refund. Ive seen DELL treat some people really well and even do things they are not legally obliged to do to satisfy people who were not even the original purchaser and that should be applauded. While my experience has been truly awful and frustrating. I just want a quick refund and I can move on from all this. I dont trust DELL.
You're right, technically it is out of the return policy, but it sounds like a reasonable request since it is such a new machine with such a delay in replacement.
Good luck.
They have agreed to return my money which is great news for me. I can no longer talk to DELL personnel without getting angry. They had one last attempt to rip me off for the money I paid them to improve the parts in my replacement machine which I never received saying that money was for a repair, which I don't understand. I hope they return my money swiftly and I can just buy a computer and move on. I'm so annoyed right now, if it was just a couple of hundred pounds I'd throw the thing in the street and get my moneys worth smashing it into the smallest pieces imaginable. Historians got it wrong its Heaven and DELL
Its nice to see someone getting a good level of service for a change or resolution, unfortunately for me I`m descending into what is commonly called Dell Hell in Bangalore Call centres hopefully I will get light at the end of the tunnel eventually. I can sympathize with anyone experiencing poor support or service, wouldnt it be nice for once to be able to post "Thanks Dell great service you are great" after an issue is dealt with swiftly and professionally. I for one will if I experience it !!
Hello:
I just wish new computers would carried a 2 year standard warranty! My old dell 5 years ago came with a standard 3 year warranty!
What happen there Dell? Change your mind thought it was costing too much?
Wow, I was just trying to post one nice comment - why does everyone have to accuse me of being a plant, and complain? Things happen. My computer finally came, within the time frame initially quoted, but I could understand a delay - the Windows 7 upgrade and great Dell deals caused a backlog. Anyway, once I got the computer, I had a couple issues (bad update, wireless card unseated). Instead of calling people names, I got help on this forum, followed the steps outlined, and although I did have a not so nice experience when I called at 2 am, when I called at a normal time of day, my issue was handled within a half hour.
There is a difference between buying a custom computer on the Dell website and going into Best Buy. As a society, we are getting way too demanding. This is part of the reason for the economic collapse. We all decided we needed everything RIGHT NOW, and as a result, we bought homes we couldn't afford, charged things we can't pay for, . . .
Don't they teach the Golden Rule in school anymore?
