Re: Great Service Dell

How about waiting 8 weeks for ink cartridges!!! Seven weeks now for a mini laptop!!! No one wanting to help you. All the while Dell has had my money. Not too pleased.

I think you were the exception.

Re: Great Service Dell

Not so much of an exception.  I have ordered 2 custom computers in the last month (mini 10 and inspiron 14) and although I customized, each took less than 2 weeks from order to delivery.

Funny you should say that. I'm a new member and main reason for my joining was to thank the support staff at Dell.ca for their great service in helping technically and for prompt part delivery. I have a pre-owned Inspiron 2650 which is waaay past any warranty but they went the extra mile for me and I'm impressed with Dell.

Here, here.

Pray to Vishnu that nothing goes wrong with your laptop.

Dell are the market leaders in taking your money and not giving a rat's behind afterwards.

I spent the best part of 3 weeks trying to get a refund for my faulty laptop.

Re: Great Service Dell

Yes refunds are a  no no at dell. They dont like to give your money back once its in their hand... I think really we should get 30 days to pay because of their reputation. I hear lots of horror stories about Dell. I know for one, I will never buy from them again. They are so confused in customer service and technical support actually, I think its the same guy that handles it sll, and he does sales too.

What a mickey mouse company this is compared to Apple.

only good things to say about dell, my inspiron 9300 went belly up after 4 years of use without any problems.  spoke to dell support and they swapped it for an inspiron 1750  ,turnaround was completed in a week, so thank you dell for your excellent service,

Thanks for posting, but just a heads up. Dell has automated filters that look at the asterisks (that may have been automatically put in) as a TOS violation.

To guarantee your post stays (and it should,as it balances some of the negative posts here), edit it and remove the asterisks.

Re: Great Service Dell

donotbuyhere you have hit the nail on the head - this is my first post on here and I've joined this group basically as a means of stress therapy (Dell induced STRESS)...

I've owned and used various Dell products for some years however some time ago purchased a Latitude D531 Laptop - which I hasten to say is apart from one major factor quite a good machine  - HOWEVER soon after purchasing it I was faced with the problem of keys falling off for no apparent reason - OK so I rang the folk at Dell in Sydney and spoke to someone who basically told me Dell sell  computers not keys :-) however if I were to donate one leg and my choice of either kidney  they would kindly send me a replacement keyboard - mind you this laptop was at the time only a few months old - and OK whilst I did not send off warranty details at the time of purchase I'd have thought their Service Tag would have been enough to prove it's age - apparently not so - so OK I admitted defeat and conceded that I'd be faced with either One: A prosthetic leg or Two: Search for a replacement key - well by this time KEYS on eBay - me being somewhat averse to pain or even mild discomfort chose the latter.

So about Three weeks later and at a cost of a little over US$12 I received the necessary keys in the mail then spent quite a few hours and countless swearies fitting them - sucess at last - so I thought - my mistake lay in the fact that I forgot that if something happens once then it might well happen again - and again - and again.

OK so back to DELL this time for a new keyboard in it's entirety - but guess what - not only has my very limited warranty expired but so it seems have stocks of the keyboard - (bear in mind this unit is still less than 24 months old) which can only lead me to one conclusion - DELL in their infinite wisdom believe that the life expectancy of their products are even more limited than their warranties.

I'm in the process at the moment of chucking out my old desktop systems (I  am in small business as a wholesaler) and replacing them with newies and Dell do have on offer some very attractive deals, but I'm afraid to say I'd be reluctant to even look at them as business these days carries enough stress without the addition of that supplied by these drongos.

I've lived and worked in the USA and whist there also owned a Dell - however found the service dept in Richmond VA to be impeccable - what a pity Dell Australia cannot emulate the standards of the parent company; as I do believe that Dell in general rank number one as a supplier and service provider within the USA - I love the products whist they're working - but god help the poor cow who needs the most basic of parts in this hemisphere....
