I have noticed that more and more options for the XPS m1730 are being removed from the website, Dell just canceled my order for one because they said they will no longer be carrying the Intel X9000 processor, I have a new one on order now with a core 2 duo 2.6 gig and the dual 9800gt cards.
I have noticed that now even the 9800gt cards are not available on the website anymore. there are only 2 color choices left and I'm starting to debate whether to cancel my order and wait to see whats next in the XPS gaming laptop lineup.
Has anyone heard anything yet on a next gen XPS gaming laptop?
Or are they simply out of parts for now ?
I don't mind waiting a little while if I'm going to spend over $3k on a laptop it will defiantly be something I want.
I am not sure anyone knows,....yet.The XPS 1730 is at EOL now and should soon be gone from production.I am curious to see if dell and alienware come up with a flagship model to replace the XPS?....Only Dell knows what will happen.

Finding the AllPowerful link makes me wonder also if Dell and alienware are teaming up for something big, hopefully teaming up because My DFS account doesn't seem to work with alienware oddly enough with the money going to the same pockets.
Even though they are teamed up the accounts are still seperate>Dell is DFS,and Alienware is Titanium.Neither accounts are linked in any way.
Yea I'm just feebly hoping that Dell will have a new XPS out at the same time or somewere around.
Keeping my fingers Crossed
I saw Dell is selling the Alienware M9750 and X15 and X17 (Crossfire and SLI) systems under electronics tab>PC Gaming.
Maybe these systems are going EOL also, but the price is outrageous?
I think you'll find that these reductions in available options are only in the us.
Here in the uk, we can still get all the colours with the 9800m gt graphics just not the x9000 anymore.
Maybe you are right and the us will get the upgrade sooner thus start taking off the m1730 sooner.?
Yea I have seen the UK Dell Catalogs and it seems they are giving some pretty decent discounts on them, again making me think they are trying to reduce there stock before the next gen hits. I have read rumors of Dell having a big presence at E3 to unveil something new. but its defiantly something they are keeping under wraps.
Possibly a new Dell Alienware hybrid, the booth is listed under Dell Gaming not Alienware and even though alienware and Dell are sister companies they still stay pretty much separate companies. though all reports so far say that Dell and Alienware are to make a big announcement at E3 june 2nd, hopefully something new for Dell and Alienware. June 2nd I guess we will all know at least something lol.
Hi...
Yeah you are right.. Dell is not going to produce the XPS line anymore, becauses it is kind of confusing to have two Gamers line of computers.. remember dell owner or "teamer" Alienware... so laptops like XPS M1530 is already out and it was replaced by the XPS Studio 16 inch, and the XPS M1730 will be gone soon and so the XPS M1330... Dell now is planing to expand Alienware to another countries... and not be only in US.. so that could be a good thing of a bad thing assuming that Alienware laptops are always so EXPANSIVES....
actually I priced out a both a m1730 and a m17 alienware specs were
m1730
x9000 processor 2.8gig - 4 gigs of ram - dual nvidia 9800gt sli - bluetooth - windows vista ultimate - 500gig hard drive appx $3200 us
Alienware m17
If you didnt get a XPS M1730 I would say you have had a lucky escape, mine died last week at 14 months old with GPU failure on 8800m GTX SLI I am now in Dell Hell due to no cards available so my NBD warranty is really great at present.
