Now after looking at the link i went to check my system and found the Bus Speed is diffrent from my DRAM speed. Ive phoned Dell already and they werent able to help, now there is clearly somthing wrong if i cant patch my game..dell blame blizzard and blizzard blame dell. So far it looks like the evidence shows its Dells fault...any idea how to fix this?
Support over the phone fails!
I have exact same problem... i bought the computer to play WOW and now i cant.. Blizz says its a Dell problem and Dell says its a Blizz problem. Either way im stuck with a $1900 paper weight.. Dell wont take computer back cause they say its been over 30 days. During those 30 days i was trying to get the game to work. It only happens on the xps630i. I think i may have to take Dell to court to get my money back cause they do not seem even slightly interested in even trying to work on a solution.. Does anyone have any fix out there for this? My lvl 80 mage cant even do anyting cause i cant get into Dal.
Shakes his fist at Dell in Disgust.....
I also have the same problem. Just bought a new expensive(>2000USD) gaming comp for my son, and we been trying hard to install WOW. The first question i got from the blizzard support when desribing my problem, was "Is it a Dell?"
The blizzard support told me to 1. Update my BIOS. 2. Check some RAM-settings 3. Check if it was synk between Buzzspeed and D-RAM frequence. When calling the Dell support, the first guy had to end, couse whe had just ended hes shift for the day. We did manage to update the BIOS (strange that it is needed when i recieved it directly from Dell 3 days earlier) The next guy, an Indian, had very litle support to offer. Not very nice, he said that it should be like limiting a Ferrari when i said what blizzard had suggested to get wow to work (!!!). Buzzspeed and D-RAM was things he had never heard of (Could be bad english also). Finaly he offered me software support, but that was payed service, not included in the 3 year warranty I signed up for. I will continue to try tomorrow, clearly the problem is with Dell, there's moore then 10 million wow players who have suceeded installing the patch.
So, Dell support managers, if You read this, contact blizzard and solved this problem. 30 days haven't passed for me yet, but I'm not so interested in changing comp again, but i guess i have to, if it doesn't work....
I too have the same problem, howver I have owned my 630i for over a year now. I used to get away by copying WoW files from another computer, but recently that hasnt been working either. I havent yet contacted Dell support I came on these forums hoping maybe someone else had found a solution, but that doesn't seem the case.
It's definatly a XPS630 issue. Ironically the computer I was transferring file from was a Dell Laptop, and recently my mom bought a new comp. I had to warn her against the 630 but she bought a XPS430 and is running WoW beautifuly. Not to mention many other players that I know of running WoW off a dell computer.
Im not here to say that dell is a bad company to purchase from, as I dont believe they are. What I am saying is that Dell needs to own up to the fact that they have a faulty computer ( and not a cheap one at that ) and do something to correct the issue. Unfortunaly not all of us ( and there are alot of us with this comp/same issue) have the means to buy a new comp, or are within 30 days to change comps. At this moment I am very dissapointed at Dell for there customer/tech support, as I didn't particularly want a $2,000 comp I never turn on.
Maybe if enough people get on here and complain, they will do something, its worth a shot.
same here, same .adt patch file, i was on the blizzard tech support hot line the other night and had suggested that i check for a HDD driver update, well i cant update my harddrives because the drivers that they have are for my segate barracuda 7200.10 but the instalation isnt compatible for vista 64 bit, im fed up with dell at this point, my warranty only covers hardware issues, which this is, why install a HDD where the drivers arent compatible with 64 bit vista! So far, blizzard has been more than help than dell has been!
DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS DELL!!
check their forums, everybody thats having this patching problem owns a XPS630i. 33 pages of complaints till the link breaks on the us forums, and another 30 on the eu forums, thats tells me that DELL has a problem!
I Found the fix for patch 3.2.. If you have another computer downlaod the game on it to include the 3.2 patch.. copy the entrie WOW folder onto a portable hard drive (the file is about 14 gigs) then paste it to your C drive. Once its copied open the folder and find the launcher file (has blizz icon) click it and BAMM your playing WOW.. Hope this helps.
P.S. you may want to create a short cut for the launcher and put on your desktop so u dont have to keep looking through the WOW folder for the launcher. This WORKS PEOPLE its real easy to do as well.. After reading this you should be playing wow in 20 minutes or less
I just ordered a new XPS 9000, and am so hoping I don't have any WoW issues.
you have three days to get your money back. Build your own system, it's cheaper and more rewarding. Also with your own machine you NEVER have to talk to Dell. You will save $ on antacids cause when your tower takes a dump you might as well hold your buddy in your hand for all the help you will get from dell. Trust me- plus all that proprietary stuff will be a non issue . Also if it came out of the Winston Salem NC plant( which only makes descktops) your USC cause they closed the plant and moved it to poland-you think you have problems now! Build your own, go to Newegg or Tiger and spend wisely
good luck
This worked...until Blizzard started putting in mini-patches and updates every couple of days. I'm spending half my play time copying and pasting.
I had some luck patching in safe mode, but not consistently either.
Any help would be great.
I've had this problem now since the Spring. The worst thing is that every once in a while I manage to get it to patch (for no particular reason) so I then pay for another month's playtime, but recently I've started to get error #132s crashing me out. I then try to reinstall and can't patch so I've wasted my money - this has happened about four times in the last few months meaning I've spent £36 to find out my game doesn't work. Blizzard's tech support have been utterly hopeless. We spent weeks going back and forward with the usual "update your drivers" nonsense. Can anyone help?
