My Order Delayed by one month

I ordered a dell 430 with expected delivery date 10 14. Delevery expected tomorrow 15th May. I was please with just one day to go. Just got an email sayin due to excessive demand your delivery date is delayed. New delivery date 15th June. What a disappointement. Can I cancel? If I was told it would take  more than six weeks to get a pc I would not have ordered it. When did they realise they were getting to many order? 1 day to go then they let me know.  I have been checking my order status and nothing then BAM. I think there is deception here. Can I cancel my order? Surely it was not in production in the beginning, can they get away with this surely been lied to. I don't think I will buy anything from this company again.

REally REally disppointed.

Re: My Order Delayed by one month

Exact same thing happened to me.  My online status says the EDD is not available and when I call they say not 9/21, not 9/28 but now 10/5.  No apology, no sympathy and happy to cancel for me if I like.  Must be the poorest customer service I've ever experienced.

Re: My Order Delayed by one month

good luck with your order mine arrived incomplete , and was advised the missing parts would be shipped in 3-5 days , didn't happen so i went out and purchased the missing items myself , No offer of a refund and here we are 3 days short of 1 month still waiting on it and they have apparently been out of stock for 1 month,

Have ordered laptops before and no issue and always took the issues with a pinch of salt however now i just dont know.

Re: My Order Delayed by one month

I ordered a 546 on Sep 19, '09. It got delayed. I called and verified to keep the order. It got delayed again. Since I had already confirmed the order, I didn't respond to the new postponement (nor was I instructed too). They canceled the order on Oct 12 (two weeks after the original delivery date). I tried to get the order reinstated but was met with two hours of stonewalling and roadblocks from Dell non-support. I placed the replacement order today (Oct 13) and wanted to get my shipping removed as a consolation. I placed the order online and before committing to it, called the sales department who completed the order for me. They did not give me an order confirmation number, they did not give me an order number. They DID get my CC number then they hung up. Dell says wait two days (again) and check back. I say YOU check to make sure its in and give ME a call back.

This is the last straw for me. I have been a loyal Dell customer for over a decade, and I have five dell boxes at home. This is the last one. The customer "service" is non-existent. Because Windows 7 is coming out, none of the computer stores in the area have stock. That is the ONLY reason Dell has my order today. If they screw up my order after Oct 23 (when the local stores start selling boxes again), I will be history.

I'm so disappointed in Dell I can't even express it. I spent two hours today on the phone trying to convince a dozen of the idiots in India that I needed order support not sales support, but they kept sending me back to sales. Sales would send me back to order support but it would be sent to the operator who would send me back to sales. The word "Frustration" in the dictionary has my picture next to it.

I see from this forum, that mine is not the only case of Dell "supporting" us to death. The last company who treated me like this was Gateway, and look where they wound up. I know HP uses proprietary components, but they are looking REALLY REALLY good right now. Also, based on the results of some of my more recent calls to offshore technical support, the Geek Squad isn't looking too bad either, at least I'll be able to understand them when they lie to me.

Sorry for your delays, mappyman. I would say cancel your order and RUN!

Thanks for listening to me vent,

BrainpowerInUse

mykill100,

Good luck on that whole order thing. If you want your order to get shipped you better call and spend an hour with one of the order support people. Otherwise they will cancel your order, as they did mine (same delivery date).

Re: My Order Delayed by one month

I feel everyone's pain.  First I went through hell just trying to get my order to go through using my Preferred Account.  After a week of troubleshooting with them, most of the ideas coming from my end, I get it fixed when I had them read the address off and they didn't have my state entered.  Finally, I reconfigure my laptop and throw in an Artisan 810 in there.  Get to checkout with an EDD of 13 Nov which is more than fine by me considering I live at an APO address.  I place the order and get the initial email, the date already moved to 25 Nov in the minute it took for the email.  The order acknowledgement email comes in and my laptop order goes to 21 Dec.  Thankfully I'm in no rush.  My printer moved up 5 days now to 20 Nov but I didn't get any email and my order status on my laptop says "Work in Progress".  What does that even mean?  It's a status that's no where to be found.  I contacted the order support help desk Friday morning and still haven't received an answer.  I guess I have all the time in the world to figure it out since it won't be here until Christmas.

Re: My Order Delayed by one month

I understand how everyone feels.  I could have ordered virtually the same machine from Costco and have it in one week instead of 5 weeks with no delivery in sight.  This is the worst experience I have ever had buying a major appliance or electronics.

It's nice to see how Dell are closely monitoring this and providing lots of input and assurances that something is going to be done about it... or not!! Well done Dell customer service!!

Re: My Order Delayed by one month

I'm in the same boat.

Its been 1 month and no laptop.  It takes 7 days to build a ford car but its taking over a month to build a laptop.

I ordered on the first of October and no laptop.

Re: My Order Delayed by one month

I got an email from Dell and they have delayed my order for another 3 weeks.  So basically for 1 laptop i have to wait almost 2 months.

I had ordered a customized mini cooper made in England and shipped to the states and it took less time to have a car built and shipped to me for pickup than it is taking to have a laptop made.

If you plan on buying a laptop for someone for Christmas, I would highly advice against it.  You will not get it before Christmas if you order it today.

Re: My Order Delayed by one month

I feel for you I really do because its very likely your problems are just starting. The computer they sent me had so many major faults they told me they would have to replace it. 3 times they changed my EDD untill after 6 weeks they pushed it too far ahead and I demanded a refund. They told me they would pick up there junk today and I have been waiting for 7 1/2 hours and they still havent picked it up and I cant get my refund till they pick up there stuff. All I want is to be able to go to a reputable dealer and buy a computer. They have cost me so much time and money. They have broke every part of there warranty which I paid for 3 years premium support. Believe me when I say this but there warrantys are worth nothing.

Re: My Order Delayed by one month

Uh oh, this is not a happy forum topic.  I've had an Inspiron 8500 for some years now and have been pleased totally with the PC and when I bought it,pleased with  Dell support.  On 10/21 I ordered a Mini 10 with a lot of upgrades, I'm getting kind of old now for lugging the 8500 around.  I got a delivery date of 11/05...not all that bad it seemed.

Well, all the peripheral stuff was here at the house in three days, including a form fit carrying sleeve for the Mini 10.  Yesterday I checked the automated order system and my delivery date is deferred to no 'later than' 11/12.  Only part of one peripheral order arrived early, when I called about the remainder of that peripheral order the order person checked the status of the system, IN PRODUCTION, he proclaimed and continued I'd probably get my system early.  About one day before the last possible ship day, one and a half weeks after ordering it, the delivery date is shoved back a whole week, and reading here, there appears to be nothing sacred about THAT date.  I called order support, after a bit of woofing they would  cancel the system order but couldn't take back what had been shipped.  ARGH!  I did get an Email  this morning with the new date.

I guess we smile and go with the flow on this one and keep our fingers crossed.  it's disappointing there's no Dell comment on this topic.  I'd think marketing would really be interested in this apparent chaos in the production and order process.  I did send an Email to ADMIN with my story and discontent, we'll see if I get an answer from them.

Re: My Order Delayed by one month

Well, I checked and my order for a Mini-10 has been pushed back yet another week to November 19.  Given the number in here who have waited literally months to get a catalog item, I've lost my confidence in any estimated delivery.  The challenge now is that given some of the order has been delivered, can I successfully cancel EVERYthing and not just the non delivered items?  I know the first thing I do is call the credit card company and stop payment till there is some kind of satisfactory resolution for the entire Order ID.

I also checked the BBB.ORG national site.  There's interesting statistics in there about the complaints from customers about Dell.  While Dell is still accredited by BBB, it has a "C" rating.  HP is also accredited, but has an "A" rating.

I've stopped smiling.

Re: My Order Delayed by one month

I first order my Laptop XPS 1645 Oct. 1, 2009. The delivery date was Nov. 5, 2009. Incredible, 5 weeks, but I was able to live with that delay. On Nov. 5, 2009, Dell has CANCELED my order. I was kind of frustrated, at first, but then, I felt somekind of relieved and free from this Dell infinite delays.

On the day after, Dell has reactivated my order and now it is scheduled for December 7, 2009. I now feel an hostage from Dell. When this nightmare will ends.

It's kind of sad, as I bought, in the past, something like 7 computer systems from Dell. Never had a problem and the delivery was incredibly fast. From now on, I will think twice before ordering from Dell again.

Just wanted to share my story too.
