Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435/8000/9000?

I have one on order with the delivery date of 4/1/09.  If anyone has been shipped theirs and had time to put it through it's paces, please comment on what you think. If not please post your expected ship dates so we will know who will be the first to comment!

Thanks!

My 435T had little or no bloatware on it. There are a couple programs that I don't use, but rather than deleting them I kept  them on just in case. The Norton Internet Security that was on the computer is good for 15 months, which was a bonus as my Norton was about to run out. I think you are going to be very surprised and happy with the performance of  your 435T, I know I am with mine.

I installed the Windows 7 Release Candidate as dual boot on mine and am using that now, which means I have zero bloatware. Smile

Re: Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435?

I received my 435 mt last monday powered it up and it worked perfectly  for one week when I got up to go to work this monday night i had left it on during the day it was off and would not power up at all so I called dell on we did the "troubleshooting" and they said a tech would come out and replace the motherboard and power supply so I checked the status and it said that it was open but when i checked last night and it wasn't listed...So I guess i have to call dell again when i get homeSad I wonder how long it takes for a service call

Sorry to hear about your problem as I know you are about to proceed on a very frustrating and time consuming journey through tech support. Been there and done that, so I hope your experience is better than mine was. I have had my replacement 435 for almost a month without any problems whatsoever so it was worth the wait, but my hair is still falling out from my time with tech support.

Good luck.

I NEED HELP!!!

I ordered the 435T system on June 4th. it arrived on June 19th and died on June 22th. I ordered an replacement on June 23th and today is July 16th. I still don't have my computer. I called a lot of times and they have been very "helpful" to tell me to wait. I tried several times to reach the managers and they can't tell me anything besides to wait. I finally lost my patience today and called again. They told me they are waiting for the Hard Drive (750GB) from manufacturer. They don't even have any estimated ship date for me. I tried to press the issue on the manager at Customer Care. She said she was the last person that I can talk to and no other superisors above her. I think she just put down the phone while I was talking, and finally tell me to wait and played music then hung up on me. I feel very sad now that I can't even get an estimate date...What a GREAT customer service! I feel the whole thing like a scam.

I hope someone can help with on this issue.

What are we supposed to do?   Sorry for your issues but if Dell does not have the part, then what can one do?   Obviously it's unfortunate there is a supply issue, something companies have been struggling with during these economic times, but it appears you've done what you can.

Besides a plethora of posts saying "oh man, that is horrible; I cant believe Dell etc etc" I'm not sure what you're looking for.   It's surely no scam.

Re: Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435?

I had to get a replacement for my 1st 435T and it took 18 days because they didn't have a 640 gig hard drive. So it is very possible they are having supply problems. When I asked how it could be that a company like Dell could not get parts, the person said, they order them by the thousands and the order has to be completely filled by the vendor before it can be excepted. As for your experience with customer service and tech support, that seems to be the rule and not the exception. It is starting to get very strange as to why so many Studio XPS 435Ts are dying in such a short time?. I don't think it is a scam, it's just very poor management and they don't care about what is going on below them.

Re: Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435?

Dear kh,

If they can provide better or more useful information, or suggest any other possible ways to help, I would feel much better than now. I don't buy a computer just to have it. I need to use it to do work. I spent a fortune on this machine and surely expecting a bit of quality service and use the computer to help me to do my work.

Computer is not an long lasting product. It becomes outdated over time. I paid and I am waiting more than a month now. It surely upsads me.

I am sorry that I come over to complain the issue. I just want to find out if there's any way to get it ASAP, instead of waiting and waiting. If they have supply issue, then at least I want to know when I can be expecting it, not just blindly waiting forever. Am I asking too much? Who wouldn't want to be a happy customer? I have been very patience until the lady hung up the phone on me.

Re: Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435?

Ryan,

First of all, I am sorry for your troubles. There is nothing worse then buying any new product, it fails and then having to wait for a replacement with limited  information about it's arrival. A suggestion would be to attempt to find out what drives they have available and substitute an in stock drive as a replacement for the out of stock hard drive. Perhaps that may expedite the process. However, maybe it would complicate it too. Sad

I recently took delivery of the 435T, but the purchase was not without stress of some sort. NO need to elaborate as my situation is small potatoes compared to yours. Dell's company culture has changed since the last time I did business with them and there are issues that need to be addressed. In the end, it's not just about shipping boxes and seeking profits. Having a customer base that feels respected and valued, which leads to repeat sales is one of the keys to longevity in the business world. I hope they resolve your issue and you receive your machine ASAP.

The way I got things moving after many hours with tech support and customer service and  nothing being accomplished, was to e-mail the sales person who sold me the system in the first place. He gave me a number in the USA where the person actually spoke English and it only took about an hour to get the replacement going. Yours is a little different situation, but it's worth a try as you may get some information that way.

Re: Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435?

I can't believe Customer service hung up on you!? Did you get her name?

If you cannot get a replacement in time, to your satisfaction, the easiest way to get out of your frustration is to return the order and get your money back. Move along to something else that serves you better.

I am really shocked to read of all these systems being shipped out with issues! Customers do not need to get in line to pay, wait indefinitely, then get a faulty product, get bad customer service, talk to tech support that has no clue of the issues, wait some more, and can only hope to get a replacement that is not faulty. What a great shopping experience! I just happen to be among the fortunate ones with one that works, although there are certainly issues, that I choose to ignore instead of making things worse. Whatever happened to Dell's quality control? Did they downsize and scrap that department???

You would think they would have more then one vendor to get replacement parts....This  is really aggravating!!

Re: Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435?

Guys, Here is my case update:

I called the sales department yesterday and asked them if they have any information about the replacement shipping date. They told me the shipping date had been push back to August 10th. I made a completely new purchase of 435T system with them. It turned out the new order shipping date is July 30th...10 days faster than the on priority replacement order... Besides that, I got better configuration with the new order with very little more money. I should've done that 3 weeks ago and probably I would've been using my new computer now.

Lesson learned: If your Dell computer have problems, don't even bother to have a replacement. Returns it right away and make a new purchase. You will have a better deal and faster shipping service.

Thank you very much for everyone's help!

Re: Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435?

And also, they told me yesterday that the reason of the delay was the video card which was different from what they told me 1 day before (hard drive). When I did the new purchase yesterday, I ordered the same video card. And they are not out of stock any more. isn't that funny?

Anyway, I hope my new machine will be here soon and get over with this nightmare.

Re: Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435?

Glad to hear you got your situation somewhat resolved. The whole thing makes no sense at all. They can get parts for for a new system, but not for a replacement? Dell has a lot of problems that need to be addressed. They seem to have a different meaning for the words "priority" and "expedite" when it comes to replacements than the Webster's Dictionary and everyone else does.
