Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435/8000/9000?

I don't know about a record, but I ordered it on Memorial Day May 25th and got it the morning of June 3rd. As for the DOA, it will go as far as the Dell splash screen then die,  maybe technically that's not DOA, but it's very close to it. it could have been a return that got shipped back out without being repaired and I was the lucky one.   My name is actually Wayne. My wifes name was Lynne. She passed away almost 10 years ago and I use her name, birth year and the year we were married for a user name sometimes.

well of course i never got a confirmation back in their magical "24-48 hour period" that my order was in fact not canceled so i decided to spin the wheel and call dell's wonderful customer service. there i was told that my order was in fact not canceled and the reason that it was delayed a second time was that the "case for the xps 435 was on backorder but it is in production." so who knows what to believe. i would sooner believe a 6 year old than one of these people reading off their flow charts. i can only hope it doesn't get pushed back again.

wayne i'm sorry to hear about your DOA unit hopefully you get that replacement unit. is anyone else out there other than j25 and i having shipment delays on this machine?

I was just told that there are no parts shortages for the 435T. That the demand is pushing back preparation/Building/shipping dates. That may also be a crock like most of the stuff they tell you. That same dude told me my exchange order would be shipped in the next 2 to 3 business days. I just checked online and it shows in " Delivery preparation" which is the first movement I have seen in 15 days, so maybe thet guy wasn't yanking my chain. I am very anxious to get one that works and see if all the good things I have heard about this computer are true. Will keep you posted. Carlinms: good luck on you computer and hope you get it soon.

thanks wayne i hope yours works out well too. nobody knows what to believe anymore hah. like you said it seems that they will spit out anything to get your to hang up and move onto the next person.

Once those people get things rolling they do it pretty fast. My order went into Delivery preparation at 9:17am and showed it was shipped at 11:04 am. The tacking tells me I will have the computer the 22nd before 4:30 pm. Too bad it was shipped next business day. Oh well after all this time a couple days really doesn't matter.

yeah that's nice man. i have my fingers crossed an event horizon occurs and my computer comes before the 30th.

wow speaking of the devil...i get an email at 4am saying my order has shipped and will be here on the 23rd. sweet.

That's great!    Maybe they are catching up a little on the orders. Let me know how things go once you get it setup and I will do the same.

I haven't been on this thread in quite a while, so I was glad to see you were still here, adding some occasional humor to this train wreck.

After all the early blogs about fan noise, etc., I just wanted to reiterate how much that issue was blown out of proportion. Overall, my XPS 435T is probably the quietest desktop machine I've ever owned. However, it's a shame to hear that the delivery delays are still the hot topic on this thread.  Hopefully, things will get better as the year rolls along.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your wife. Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day, Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed, very dear and always in our heart.

My 435T did the same thing when I updated the video drivers from the Dell site however it was intermittent. Some times it would hang on the Dell screen and sometimes it would not but took awhile to boot. I restored the previous driver and all was well.

Report back when you recieve the replacement.

Thank you for those kind words Jon. Yes, death ends a life but not a relationship. Lynne is still with me every minute of every day I just can't she her. That is very interesting about your probleme being somewhat like the problem I had. My graphics card was the 4870. FedEx is scheduled to deliver my replacement computer before 4:30 today, it's now 1:50 PST so their cutting it close. If it goes like everything else has gone in the process, the truck will catch on fire and blow up and I will have to go through the whole process again. Will let you know how things go. If I have any problems I will post them here.

I got the replacement XPS 435T and this one came right up and it was well worth the wait. It is super fast, very quite. The other one when it first started made a lot of noise, this one is much quiter. The only hitch so far is I get a error mesage when I first start it that says "Catalyst control center host application has stopped working" It doesn't seem to bother anything and I can get into the control center and adjust the display settings. Dell also forgot  to include the return labels and instructions for the bad computer. I called and got some guy with Dell in Tennessee who e-mailed everything I needed. Now it's just getting everthing loaded on the new one.

I disabled Catalyst control center in "MSCONFIG" and it has helped with start up times, error msgs  etc.
