Re: Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435?

I think that all depends on the number of units that have been ordered, configuration  and availability of parts. I got my first one in 8 days. It had a couple problems and had to be replaced. That took 18 days because of a back ordered part that was needed to complete my computer. When they show  "In Production"  that may not mean it is being built at that moment, it means it is in the process of filling your order. Once that changes, things happen pretty fast.

And I was beginning to think either people suddenly stopped buying the 435T's, or Dell has improved on their production/delivery times.

You shouldn't complain if you only have to wait a week or two........if you read this WHOLE thread.Wink

Thanks - I have my fingers crossed and hope it arrives before the end of the holidays. Nonetheless, 8 days? I'm impressed!

Re: Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435?

Ordered on July 1st - ETA July 13th.

Hoping that I will see an improvement over my current 4 year old 3.2Ghz Pentium 4.  The old Pentium can't quite handle the demands of editing AVC HD.  Are there any owners out here who edit/render/burn video?

Studio XPS 435T, Intel Core i7-940 processor(8MB L3 Cache 2.93GHz)

24" (S2409W) monitor

24" (S2409W) monitor (second display)

12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz

512MB ATI Radeon HD 4850

750GB Serial ATA 2 Hard Drive 7200 RPM

Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 Ultimate 64-Bit Edition English

6X Blu-Ray Writer and 16X DVD+/-RW

Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio

I had originally placed an order on a 435MT, but canceled and ordered the 435T, which will better suit future hardware expansion.

Regards,

Spence

Spence, I've had great luck burning AVCHD output from my Canon HD camcorder to DVD using Adobe Premiere Elements. I did opt for the BluRay burner on the 435T, but do not have a set top BD player yet :(  My old DELL Dimension 8250 was far below the minimum specs required, and the 435T edits everything flawlessly in my opinion. Only problem was the connection between my WD 1TB external drive I bought to store the AVCHD raw files. I wanted to use eSATA instead of USB2.0 or Firewire, but the 435T does not recognize the external drive using the eSATA cable. It does recognize it using USB or firewire, so I suspect (from what I've read in other forums) there is an issue with WD eSATA port being too deep for the cable to make a good connection. I think the 435T is fine.

But as far as the 435T goes, I am very pleased with its speed. I have 6 gigs of RAM and the same configuration as you except I opted for the 1024MB ATI Radeon HD 4850. That one upgrade, I suspect, delayed my order for several weeks.

You'll love your 435T when it arrives!!!

Everybody keeps mentioning a 435 T and a 435 MT. I live in australia, so my options might be limited but what exactly is the difference?

The 435T is a tower and looks like my avatar. The 435 MT is a mini tower smaller, with a different looking case.

Today must be my lucky day!  My second monitor arrived today (after working for years with a 22" Samsung widescreen, the 24" Dell is far larger than I expected).  In addition to this, upon checking my order status on the 435T (ordered on July 1st) I learn that it shipped today and has an expected delivery date of July 6th!

Time to clean off my desk!  ...this is going to be one long weekend!

Cheers,

Spence

Re: Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435?

My 435T had little or no bloatware on it. There are a couple programs that I don't use, but rather than deleting them I kept  them on just in case. The Norton Internet Security that was on the computer is good for 15 months, which was a bonus as my Norton was about to run out. I think you are going to be very surprised and happy with the performance of  your 435T, I know I am with mine.

Happy 4th to you also.

This is great to know - I don't even think I will bother to rebuild it then, although I may run some cleanup and optimization tools.  Nice that Norton comes as an option.  Running it on my other three boxes.

Too late, & too tired for me to do much other than check e-mail.  I can't wait to get some data migrated, and then install my video editing software to see just how much rendering AVCHD on this box is over my Pentium 4!

Cheers!

Re: Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435?

So far, so good!  I cannot believe how quiet the 435T is!   Why, my old P4 box sounded like a leaf blower by comparison!   ...I sure hope the cooling fan is functioning!  Working to transfer data over from my old box, after which I'll begin re-installing my applications.

Has anyone been able to successfully get ATI's old HD Wonder tuner/capture card working?  The 64 bit OS detected and installed drivers after which I went through the Media Center initialization and all local channels were successfully scanned (with solid green signal strength), but when I try to view live television, I receive a blank screen, which times out and says something to the effect of "no signal".

My guess is that the old PCI card just doesn't get along well with the OS.  I have ordered a PCI-e replacement, but wouldn't mind if I could get this one working.  Any clues?

Thanks,

Spence

Hi, on the order status page does an arrow represent the action as completed or in progress?
