XPS 730 Motherboard problems

Am I totally by Dell in that my XPS 730's warranty expired 6 weeks ago and the motherboard has out? If this is so, then what of the XPS M1530 I'm submitting this question on? It's still got a couple of years on it, warranty-wise but now I'm very worried about Dell's quality. Should I immediately dump this laptop and go for Lenovo? Mac? HP? I've either owned a number of Dells since it was basically founded or recommended that they be bought for whatever company I worked for.

Okay, enough rant. Where can I get a replacement mobo for the 730? I know it's proprietary, so an Asus or equivalent won't work. Please let me know as I've got tons of of info on the harddrive that DOES still work.

Thanks

Re: XPS 730 Motherboard problems

Oh how wrong you are about your motherboard. You own one of the two Dell systems that are capable of using off the shelf parts. No propritary parts on your rig. So add in what you want.

You can call Dell but i can pretty much bet the board will be between 400-500.

The 630/730 are the first two dell system that are 100% upgadeable with all parts.

Re: XPS 730 Motherboard problems

Find a mobo yet? I have one from a 730x with 3GB DDR3 RAM I'm looking to offload.  You may need a new processor though as I believe these are built for the i7 processor.  Would make for a nice upgrade though!
