@myming

myming:

Yes, choosing Yes to any of the three options in the Email Configuration section enables that particular option while choosing No disables that option. The one thing to notice though is that if you choose No on the first option, Receive emails, then you will get no notifications or emails from the community even if the other two options are set to Yes.

When you are trying to locate the correct thread to do your post, what happens when you can't determine which category to place it in?  I want to do a post on RAM for my desktop and I don't have any idea where to go to after desktop.

Welcome to the Dell Community Forum, dleerl. Smile

For a question about RAM for your desktop the best choice would be the General Hardware section of the Desktop forum. Just click on Post a Message after clicking that link and you should be set.

Re: Unofficial FAQ for How to Navigate and Use the Forums

dleerl:
How do the stars work?

The stars on each post are there for rating purposes and you can rate any post (including your own) by clicking on them. The system is as follows:

1 star (Poor)

2 stars (Fair)

3 stars (Average)

4 stars (Good)

5 stars (Excellent)

dleerl:
How do you post a tag?

When you are creating your post you will see a Tags box where you can add whatever tags that you want to your post. There is also a Select Tags... button below that where you can choose from tags that others have used on their posts (this will open a separate window).

dleerl:
How do the points get assigned?

Points are assigned when you post (5 pts.), when someone replies to your post (15 pts.), when your post is ranked through the use of the stars (variable) and when your post is chosen as the solution (this value is unknown to me at this time). For example, you received 5 points for each of your posts here and 15 additional points when I responded to each of them. You do not receive any points when you reply to one of your own posts.

Re: Unofficial FAQ for How to Navigate and Use the Forums

Didn't know where to ask this.  How do you print the thread?  I'm getting 3 pages but it's only the top and sides and not the body with the postings.  I think it used to open the thread in a new window to print but today it's not.

Also I tried searching for an answer to this couldn't find one.  Tried HOW TO USE THE COMMUNITY Resources link for Rules of the Road but it just gave me some  postings and not how to use the forum.

Re: Unofficial FAQ for How to Navigate and Use the Forums

I have a forum navigation question.  Some of the forums have well over 50 pages.  When you click the question, how do you get to the last page and not have to hit forward a dozen times to see the latest post?
