Dell Financial Services....someone tell Greg Davis it's hurting sales!!

Todays puzzle: This is the 2nd time we posted this; it was removed because we got a private email/message (that we can't mention here in the forum) that 'they' felt our post included advertising, solicting or included linking to other sites........well, we re-read this post several times and can't find the offensive text. Can you? Bonus: 100 pts. to anyone who can find the problem here.

"We are an SMB VAR (partner direct convert) and have been reselling Dell Solutions for about 11
years. Business has really taken off after 4 solid years of intensive marketing efforts
with a larger sales force in place. So we placed an order for about $17K around
6-8 weeks ago on our 30 SAC account. One server, 6 towers, 2 laptops. No
problems except we sure miss the 60 day SAC; 30 days is REAL TIGHT to deliver,
stage, deploy and collect from a client.

Then we got an order for 2 servers and 18 workstations. My PM placed this order
through our rep like we always do. It got stuck at the "confirmed"
stage for 2 weeks before WE noticed it and made the call. When we called the
rep, he said there was a problem and conferenced in a DFS specialist.

"Misty the specialist" tells us that we have no finance terms - that
we can only pay by credit card. She says that Dell has NEVER, EVER offered
financing for resellers. Really? It turns out she has about 11 months at DFS and
is just so clueless. We try tell her we have terms and that our certified
partner online account status clearly shows we have over $20K available. I ask
her to look up our account.

"I'm sorry but you can only pay with a credit card" she repeated.
WHAT? I had to get one of my PMs on the line to confirm I heard her correctly.

That episode last Monday forced us to buy from [NOT DELL]. And so after 11 years and
almost 2.5 million in Dell sales we opened a new [NOT DELL] reseller account early last
week.

Does Greg Davis really know what's going on? I don't think so.

I think it's absolutely hilarious that my higher power has such a wicked
sense of humor......a bunch of us reading the brand new PowerSolutions rag we
just got in the mail today and guess what was delivered in the back door? Yep -
those new [NOT DELL] systems.

Oh yea - BTW: last Friday we got a very large contract with two 18,000 sf
medical offices that will open 4Q08. We've been working real hard with the
developers and chiefs over there for the past year. We will deploy [NOT DELL] systems in
all those medical offices.

Ciao Dell."

Tncprez,

I sent you an email last week asking for more information about this issue. We’ve escalated it to the director level, but without further information there is little we can do to help find out where the confusion is and how to resolve it. Please feel free to email me back (I sent it to the email you registered your DCF account with) or PM me.

Re: Dell Financial Services....someone tell Greg Davis it's hurting sales!!

We are by no means on the same scale as you all seem to be, but I had my credit account with DELL cut by 1/3 even though I always pay on time and more than what is minimally owed.  They said they revamped all the partner credit accounts and gave us "lease" terms.  Of course, I think that is what she said because she was Asian and spoke VERY LITTLE ENGLISH.  She just kept repeating "you now have lease terms".

I too just opened NON-DELL accounts with two NON-DELL resller companies.  I have never thought that DELL had much going for them in the accounting dept. but this Partner fiasco takes things to a whole new level (and I'm a CPA so I pride myself on this stuff).

I supposed they price things cheaply so you won't mind the things you have to go through to get stuff.
