HELP - WiFi Catcher error

Here is the pop-up I am getting:

Problem Description:
Wi-Fi Catcher Network Locator
Your Wi-Fi Catcher band configuration is not compatible with your WLAN card band configuration.

I cannot connect to my wireless connection. I have not done anything different and was able to connect last night (and for the previous 2 months).

The error message gives me an option to "automatically change your Wi-Fi Catcher band configuration." I have tried this, but it has not worked.

Has anyone seen this that can help?

Re: HELP - WiFi Catcher error

Any updates on this issue?

I'm receiving the same pop-up at start up and having the same symptoms; using an Inspiron 1520 with Windows Vista.

I've tried refreshing the networks and no wireless networks appear.  Previously, several appeared including mine (I live in an apartment so I could see several networks when this was working).

- From the BIOS, wi-fi is enabled.
- From the Device Manager, my wireless NIC (Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG) is working fine and has the most current driver.
- From Dell QuickSet, under Networking, Wi-Fi Catcher/Radio Control Options:
  - Switch:  Status = Enabled, Controls = Wi-Fi
  - Wi-Fi Catcher Network Locater:   Status = Enabled, Mode = Any Available Network

Re: HELP - WiFi Catcher error

I am having the same problem with my Studio 1535 laptop, Vista x64.

Every time this happens, my WIFI goes down, and I have to go into the diagnose and repair, which works most of the time.

Also, Suprfetch and Windows Service Host (both part of Vista) stop working.

It seems to have started when I downloaded the recent Dell Recommended WIFI driver update, which is sent to me via email for all updates related to my Studio 1535 laptop.

I think that the new driver is incompatible with WIFI Catcher, which is the program associated with the WIFI switch on the side of the laptop.  I would like to locate the old driver, and replace the new one with the old one, which worked just fine!

If this is true, then something may to be wrong with Dell updates if they tell me a driver is recommended for my laptop, but is in fact incompatible with it.

Any tech help here?

Best,

tlt
