Dell Dimension 8250 VISTA: ADI 198x Integrated Audio driver for VISTA missing - please help

    I am looking for a ADI 198x Integrated Audio Driver for Vista.   I recently upgraded to VISTA on my Dell Dimension 8250.   I have no sound still.   I've gotten past most of the upgrade issues, except for the audio driver.  VISTA continues to tell me that there is "no Audio Output Device installed".   In the Device Manager, the "Multimedia Audio Controller" is listed under "Other Devices" without any driver at all.
 
   I've tried several drivers I found around these forums, but all have failed.  I searched the DELL site and I can't tell if they even have a VISTA driver for this.  Has anyone had any success with this Audio Driver for VISTA?      Can anyone point me to where I can find one?

In searching around for drivers for your system I was unable to find any.  I did come across another forum discussion in which the posters stated that they used the XP drivers in Vista and that it worked.  Click here for the discussion I am referring to and keep in mind that the driver file they reference are the drivers for their specific systems.  You would have to use the XP driver file for your model.

Thanks much.   Just tried that method, but no joy.   Extracted XP drivers to hard drive, tried updating from the Device Manager, pointed to the XP audio driver (extracted) folder,  "Windows cannot find any driver software for your device".    Boy this is frustrating..
 
Thanks for the tip though.   I'll keep searching around ..
