Re: Vista delay before song plays

I have a inspiron 9400 and have done this. It has gotten rid of the delay, however there is still periodic choppiness with all audio. I have been trying to get rid of this for days now and its getting really tiresome. Any ideas??

rhsc888,

That is the latest data I have. If I get anymore, I will post it.

Re: Vista delay before song plays

Same situation here - intermittent "choppiness" during various audio apps.

Same with either R142667 or R147075.  I've gone back to R142667 as it seems (?) marginally better.

Re: Vista delay before song plays

someone suggested to me to disable my wireless to eliminate the problem, it actually worked but what does this mean, is it still a driver problem or a hardware problem?? Not much of a solution though if it means i can't be on the internet to listen to clean music or other audio.

Re: Vista delay before song plays

I have a Dell 9100 with Sigmatel Audio.  I found another forum that suggested the following:

Go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound
Select Speakers/Headphones -> Properties
Select the Enhancements Tab
Select "Disable all enhancements"

This was a valid workaround for me, but I don't like to disable features to work around a problem.  Hopefully, this will provide some information until a more robust solution can be posted.

Re: Vista delay before song plays

Disabling all enhancements works!  It corrected the audio playback choppiness and the delays between in starting songs.

Re: Vista delay before song plays

System is Dell dimension 9150 with up to date vista sigmatel audio driver from the dell website

If I have "Disbable all enhancemets is ticked" then there is no delay between tracks BUT my rear speakers stop working.

If I have "Disbable all enhancemets is unticked" then there is a delay between tracks BUT my rear speakers work.

I have googled this to death and cant find how to stop the delay between tracks AND have all four speakers working.

any ideas?

Re: Vista delay before song plays

I just downloaded winamp (free) and I am able to play all channels with zero delay.  Hope this helps.
