Re: Exploding Laptop Puts Dell on the Hot Seat!

That's a very misleading subject line. Before you put Dell on the hot seat you should have done alittle research. There have only been 43 reported instances in the last 5 years, out of the millions of laptop's and notebook's sold. It is the battery that's getting hot which are made in China and are shipped to Dell, HP, and other comp companys. Also it has nothing to do with desktop computors. Just a few facts before you put somebody on the hot seat.

Re: Exploding Laptop Puts Dell on the Hot Seat!

read on inquirer.net a new post about dell and exploding laptops

i also find it hard to believe the 43 laptops in the last 5 years... how many have gone unreported... 43 is far too many in the first instance, since the problem with lithium batteries and heat issues is already known

Re: Exploding Laptop Puts Dell on the Hot Seat!

Does anyone know if the exploding lap tops were plugged up or running on battery power? I bought a targus fan and put under mine it is a lot cooler with it.

Thanks,

Sandavis

Bravo GUS,

You win the the consumer conscience of the month award. Despite your altruistic motivations for trying to change a juggernaught, it almost sounds like a setup for the old reliable cl*ss action legal action.

Good luck.

Make that 45. Had one blow up yesterday, on a battery that was NOT on the 2006 recall list. Inspiron 6000 (we have 8 more just like it. We're pulling and re-checking all remaining ones today. I'll run em without batteries if I have to to protect them.
