Having both joined Dell Storage in early March of this year from non-traditional career paths, Ryan and I sat down recently to talk about our immersion in the world of Dell EqualLogic Storage. When we joined our respective teams, both the EqualLogic hardware and software core teams were running full tilt to launch new firmware (EqualLogic Firmware v5.1) and two new PS Series hardware arrays (Dell EqualLogic PS6100 and PS4100 Series), coinciding with the exciting launch of the EqualLogic FS7500 Unified Storage Solution. We found ourselves faced with a steep learning curve and literally no ramp-up time. Luckily, we both found excellent support from within our respective teams, the engineering core teams, and the EqualLogic product manager Gary Gumanow (check out this video of Gary and me talking about the latest EqualLogic launch).

dellstorageEqualLogic talks a lot about family values for the storage arrays, but Ryan and I found the analogy of family far transcended the product and extended to the people working on this product line. The EqualLogic team is passionate about quality and providing state-of-the-art storage to help your organization meet the demands of the virtual era. If you love having choices, you will appreciate that the next-generation EqualLogic PS6100 and PS4100 Series family of arrays offers plenty of them with 10 new arrays. The new arrays feature a tremendous advantage in density and capacity plus flexibility with offerings for both 2.5” and 3.5” drives. These compact arrays, some of which contain up to 24 drives, up the ante in performance and will be featured in the Dell Storage booth at VMworld. I will be working in the booth at VMworld along with many of our technical resources and hope you will stop by to check out the new hardware and talk about what Dell Fluid Data solutions can do for your organization. Coupled with advantages offered by the new firmware such as Data Center Bridging (DCB) on legacy 10GbE arrays and enhanced thin provisioning, strong relationships with partners such as VMware, Emulex and Brocade, as well as an extensive suite of host software offerings, EqualLogic is leading the way in the Dell Storage revolution. For more information about the Q3 launch, visit the Social Media Press Release page.

This is an exciting time to be working in Dell Storage, where we are all about giving you the power to do more with your data management. I hope you will join the Dell Storage community via Facebook and Twitter and that our paths will cross soon.
