Next year’s back to school shopping may be a little different for the students at Westwood ISD. One of the latest schools to choose Dell Windows 8 devices for its 1:1 tablet initiative, students will find themselves downloading education apps and digital books rather than buying pencils and notepads. Dell Latitude 10 and XPS 12 will be in the hands of every student and teacher to enhance classroom learning and student assessment capabilities.
“The Dell Latitude 10 and XPS 12 proved to be the right fit for Westwood ISD,” says Dr. Clint McLain. “With Windows 8 we were able to integrate the new tablets seamlessly into our existing IT ecosystem but still deliver the flexible, personalized learning experience of a mobile device.”
Currently, Westwood ISD uses computer labs for its online student testing. This process was a strain on the school, time-intensive and cumbersome to implement. Dell tablets resolve this problem because the Windows 8 Operating System is able to run the testing software and has the needed security features to administer the test.
“We were seeking solutions that would bring technology into the classroom, sparking students’ desire to learn, and also expanding our district’s educational opportunities beyond the classroom,” explains McLain. “Additionally, Dell’s tablets provided the best way to address our online student assessment needs here in the State of Texas. These devices are innovative and will be enjoyable for our students to use.”
