At this year's InterTICE conference , a French event dedicated to innovative IT solutions for the education sector, Dell presented its new Dell S300wi a Wireless Short-Throw Interactive Projector. Specifically designed to answer the needs of the classroom, this smart projector combines the performance and functionality of an interactive white board with the multiple benefits of a short-throw projector. Any wall or blank surface can be easily transformed into an interactive interface, ideal for fun, motivating and collaborative learning.
The local Dell team created a short vlog in French, with Fabien Prehel, Client Solution Marketing Manager at Dell showing the Dell S300wi. The vlog was featured in articles by Quelecran.com and begeek.fr. Some good quotes from the articles include: "Dell S300wi video-projector arrives on the market, with a weighty asset: it is 3D Ready.", "This intelligent video-projector combines the performances and the features of an interactive whiteboard and the multiple possibilities usage of a short-range video-projector."
The InterTICE show, dedicated to innovation and IT for the education sector, took place at the CNIT Paris La Défense. Over 4,500 visitors (teachers, decision makers for e-education) and 500 students were expected. The Dell booth, which had various Connected Classroom technologies on show, saw a great amount of traffic during this three day event.
We just received 2 of these and like them very much. They are very impressive in terms of short throw, bright image and wireless connectivity.
Much as we like the interactive smartboard functionality but I must say that it is a bit off-putting to have to use a wired USB connection from the projector to the presenting computer for this to work. Seems Dell could have figured out how to make this work over the existing wifi connection that is already established, Hoping that capability will be added in a future release.
