I’m proud to announce that we are building on our more than 15 years of workstation industry leadership today by introducing the world’s most powerful 15” and 17” mobile workstations - the Dell Precision M4700, M6700 and M6700 Covet Edition. These systems deliver unrivalled performance, dependability and innovative design allowing professionals like film editors, architects and geophysicists to do their critical work anytime, anywhere.
As a result of our strong heritage, direct customer relationships and world-class engineers and designers, we know the market better than anyone and are able to consistently introduce industry-leading solutions to solve specific problems for our our customers. Examples of those solutions include the first mobile workstation, first dual-processor workstation and first 2U rack workstation.
In addition to being the most powerful mobile workstations, the new M4700 and M6700 offer a number of first and industry leading technologies to help our customers design, render and analyze more data faster. A few of those features include:
Our customers, especially creative professionals, will be thrilled that we heard them and are bringing back the Covet Edition with a Phoenix Red color finish and edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass 2 for brighter images.
On all three Precision mobile workstations, we also offer beautiful IPS RGB LED displays with one of the widest spectrum of colors and more than 100% Adobe color gamut for color critical work. All display options now open more than 180 degrees enabling a flat surface for easier use of the touch capabilities and integration into medical carts and other vertical uses.
We realize weight, battery life and ports are critical to our mobile workstation customers. To enable long periods of performance and the utmost productivity, we offer three video outputs, DP, HDMI and VGA with screws, the lightest 17-inch mobile workstation, and dual quiet fans and cooling solutions for the CPU and graphics.
Finally, we test, certify and support our workstations for maximum dependability so our customers can focus on their creative and design workflows and less on system administration. You can learn more about the dependability and other benefits our technology brings our customers like Tippett Studio, Appalachian State University, and Repertoire Productions in the video below:
During my discussion with these customers three themes emerged: Dell Precision workstations offer unbeatable performance, smart design and outright dependability. Sanjay Das, CTO, Tippett Studio, said it best when asked about the benefits he’s seen from using Dell workstations, "Dell enables me to sleep at night knowing we have a technology partner that understands the complexities and challenges of our compute infrastructure. And during the day, my team can focus less on system administration and more on improving efficiencies in the workflow and improving the creative output of our studio.”
Today’s announcement underscores our commitment to the market, our customers and the promise of high-performance, dependability and smart design that comes with the Dell Precision brand. We look forward to hearing your feedback on the new systems.

I have just read your Press Release "New Dell Precision Mobile Workstations Provide Unrivalled Performance and Dependability for Power Users on the Go" (content.dell.com/.../2012-07-24-dell-precision-mobile-workstation) where you specify that "The M6700 will also be the first mobile workstation to offer optional 10+ finger multi-touch in the coming months.".
I have some questions about this:
Do you have any idea when this option is available?
Will it be available with stylus touch?
Will this touchscreen option be available with the Covet Edition?
Will all this work Linux OS sushc as Ubuntu, Red Hat, Fedora, Debian and so on?
Thanks so much for your time and your help,
