It’s been almost five years since Dell launched PartnerDirect , Dell’s global partner program, and four years since its launch in Asia Pacific. In just four short years we have grown our program to over 7,000 partners of which 500 are certified Premier/ Preferred partners from across 37 countries in Asia Pacific and Japan. Given the recent mention from CRN about being one of the “Best Companies to Partner With” , I thought it would be good to share how things are going...

I recently introduced you to Dell OEM’s Susan Dempski who explained the great new OEM Express program where customers can quickly and easily get generic Dell PowerEdge 1U Servers and 2U Servers in any of 5 colors and with a choice of three different bezel badge shapes with customized printing for branding purposes. When we were filming that little clip Susan realized there was also a nearby cache of bezels demonstrating an even more amazing customization technology called pictaflex which is...

Nothing too drastic yet, as the site is certainly still a work in progress, but there’s already a notably cleaner look and feel. These changes are intended to streamline our customers’ online shopping experience through the following improvements: 1) More educational product content and video 2) Fewer links to find the products you’re looking for 3) Higher visual...

After several days in Beijing, I flew on to Taipei and experienced a massive change in weather. Or more specifically, in air quality. The Beijing air quality index hit 420 in the evening that we were leaving, giving the air a foggy quality that reminded me of the dust storms that I have seen in Dubai. Landing in Taipei that evening, we had gone from mid 30s and thick air to upper 80s and pure humidity; perfect for clearing out the lungs a bit. For reference, it was ~25 in Austin, and a bad day in...

The manufacturing space is a volatile business where everything from market fluctuations to tropical storms can have a major impact on our customers’ profit margins. To remain agile and competitive in today’s global economy, manufacturers need to understand the financial performance of product lines and customers. It is imperative that margins and costs be made visible in real-time to make decisions that will allow them to turn volatility into opportunity. In response, today Dell announced...

Often at Dell we’re so caught up in the bustle of making the next big thing happen that we forget to pause a moment and recognize the great job people have already done. Let’s begin by changing the lens on the topic of the cloud and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). In my role as a services consultant for Dell OEM Solutions , I talk to a lot of OEMs about the infrastructure needed to deliver their solution to customers via the cloud . However, when our OEM customers talk about it, they see it as a turn-key service, SaaS, managed service or a utility-consumption model. Fundamentally, more and more of our customers see the cloud as having two key benefits...

There's plenty to worry about sharing sensitive business secrets on Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. Evidence of that is our own Dell Secureworks finding that small and mid-sized businesses are losing as much as $1 billion per year to cybercrime.
