17 May 2012
Dell’s focus on helping our customers “Do More..” was reinforced over the last two weeks as we opened new “Solution Centers” in Sydney and New York City. Interest in these two centers has been huge since we first announced these locations and we already have numerous engagement requests from customers and partners who want to see and test how Dell solutions can meet their unique requirements. Each center was launched with an event attended by customers, alliance partners, channel partners and media. In New York, we were also delighted to meet with several industry analysts. Our guests were invited to tour the centers and experience a diverse range of industry

Hardcore gamers are a peculiar breed, and I'm proud to count myself among them. Domination in our chosen arena is more important than anything else, and when our gaming hardware slouches, resulting in a failed kill or a lost match, that's just not acceptable. Many of us will go to any length to make sure our gaming rigs don't stand in the way of our obsession with bringing our opponents to tears. This past April, Alienware unleashed a new lineup of gaming laptops including the new M17x...

One of the latest stops on U2’s 360º tour was in Anaheim, California. Dell was at the center of those shows along with 50+ others around the world during the past two years. I attended the show on Friday and gave some key business and technology reporters an inside look at the how Dell technology is powering a truly unique concert experience. The 360⁰ tour is as much about the technology they use to embrace their audience as it is about their music. I see parallels in our evolution...

June is the month where Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people recognize the beginning of the LGBT Equality Movement in New York City. In June 1969, after yet another police raid on the Stonewall Inn, a local New York City gay bar, a group of LGBT citizens and their allies held a series of protests against the abusive raids, igniting the movement. The LGBT Employee Resource Group here at Dell called PRIDE, celebrated June LGBT Pride month by hosting a speaker event featuring...

The new firmware will be rolled out to customers with unlocked phones globally and to T-Mobile customers in the US around the middle of next month. This will be via the Zune update process. Beginning this week, customers who order...

Gartner released its annual supply chain report for 2011 last week with keen insights applicable to our IT-powered, OEM marketplace. Dell moved into the #2 spot ahead of Cisco, HP and IBM. One comment that struck me as immediately congruent with what we are hearing regularly from OEM customers is around the importance of value-chain network integration: “the key isn’t whether a company owns all the pieces of its network – it’s how well it controls the outcome of the activities...

If you’ve ever driven in Italy, you’ll know that it can be a pretty interesting experience – just head to Rome for a heady cocktail of zipping Vespa’s, fast cars and narrow cobbled streets. Responsible for policing these streets are the Italian military police force, otherwise known as the Carabinieri. The Carabinieri are smart guys (I’m not just talking about their uniforms ) and have turned to Dell OEM Solutions Group to develop a very neat solution to some of their...

"I want to succeed"; these words, always the same ones, Mehdi always reports them to his teacher, Asmae, at the end of his classes. At 14 years old, Mehdi is a teenager like others, at least almost. He has dreams, desires, and secrets, but also problems. Indeed, Mehdi didn’t have an easy story until now. Fatherless, he lives with his mum and two brothers and sisters in a very poor shanty town of Casablanca, in the area of Sidi Maarouf. He dropped out from school 4 years...

For Dell, the development of new PowerEdge servers has always started with listening to what our customers are doing in their ever-changing environments and what key capabilities were needed to overcome both the challenges they face today as well as those they expect to face tomorrow. One key element which was expressed time and time again by our customers was the exponential increase in the utilization of their platforms, mainly driven by the prevalence and increased density of their virtual...

Healthcare projects really bring home the value of technology, but they also show how vital it is to have a solid strategy that puts IT in line with real-life outcomes. From electronic patient records to x-ray archives, there’s a common theme that most healthcare organisations are tackling – data management. Patient data has to be secure, but accessible too. People having treatment in multiple departments need continuity of care. Clinical decisions should be as prompt as they are well...
