Dell Solution Center Network Expands in Australia and U.S.
17 May 2012
Dell’s focus on helping our customers “Do More..” was reinforced over the last two weeks as we opened new “Solution Centers” in Sydney and New York City. Interest in these two centers has been huge since we first announced these locations and we already have numerous engagement requests from customers and partners who want to see and test how Dell solutions can meet their unique requirements. Each center was launched with an event attended by customers, alliance partners, channel partners and media. In New York, we were also delighted to meet with several industry analysts. Our guests were invited to tour the centers and experience a diverse range of industry

I was an only child until I was 12, and until my brother was born, I was also the only grandchild. So my early Christmas memories involved what seemed like mountains of presents that I tore into like a Tasmanian devil . It was awesome. J Once everyone finished their coffee and changed out of their jammies, we filled giant garbage bags with the shredded wrapping paper and torn packaging and set them out on the curb, where they'd soon be joined by the used, slowly drying Christmas tree...

Helping Hospitals with Their Imaging Problem

It hasn’t been long since when thinking about medical imaging we would visualize a physician holding an x-ray image to a light box as he or she studied the anatomy. By today’s standards, those old medical images would seem quaint if they didn’t belie the very real image management problem the country’s hospitals will face in the coming years. The confluence of sophisticated new medical-imaging technologies and federal regulations that encourage the expansion of electronic...

It has been a month and a half since Bill J and I started working with the IdeaStorm community, and I wanted to take a moment to update you on what we have been up to so far. One of the first things we did was host a "town hall" conference call with some of our members. Joining Bill and me on the call was Andrew D of Dell Product Group. Among the community members on the call were jervis961 and sugarbear . We plan on hosting more of these calls in the coming months with details...

We’ve seen conversations today via blogs and Twitter discussing potential shipment delays for the #dellvenuepro . Over the past several days, many of you have asked me, @AmyatDell and @DellCares for an update. Like I blogged about earlier , Dell is ramping production as fast as we can. We’re continuing to monitor our manufacturing and supplies and will make every effort to align shipments with arrival expectations. At this point, our most important focus is to deliver the right out...

First came genomics , then proteomics – the mission to identify and understand all the proteins produced by the human genome. Every process in our bodies is controlled in some way by proteins. Knowing how they work means a lot for drug development, neurology, cancer treatment and more. At the Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Group at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, around 60 people are using the latest technology to develop innovative research methods. Their experiments produce huge...

Consumers are making green a larger part of their lives…and purchases. Dell’s bamboo packaging was nominated as one of four semi-finalists, and the only American company, in the 2010 Global Green Awards ( #greenawards ) for Creativity in Sustainability in the category of Best Green Packaging. These awards are among the most prestigious in the industry. The winners were announced last week in London with many dignitaries in attendance including Prince Charles. The venue for the awards was the dinosaur...

The topic of when we were going to upgrade Streak users from Donut (Android 1.6) to Froyo (Android 2.2) has been the source of much conversation since we launched the device in the UK back in May . We continue to roll out the over-the-air update to Streak devices outside the United States since we started the process last month . The reality is that there are a lot of moving parts in the mobile space. Offering a product like Streak means working with multiple carriers in multiple regions. Many times...

Dell is proud to announce the launch of OEM support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 (RHEL 6) which is certified on 9G, 10G, and 11G Dell servers and is an excellent complement to Dell’s open standards-based strategy. RHEL 6 provides customers with a proven, scalable, manageable and reliable open standards-based operating system that delivers even more compelling reasons for customers to migrate off of proprietary, UNIX-based systems. Today, as some of you may have already seen on Mashable , we officially opened the doors to our Social Media Listening Command Center. In my view, it represents the next broad step in the our efforts to stay connected to our customers around the globe. The Listening Command Center is a place where we monitor more than 22,000 Dell-related topic posts on average—and that's a number that will probably continue to grow. Average daily mentions of Dell on Twitter alone have a greater reach...

For many organizations, the migration to Windows 7 will be in full swing in 2011. The driver for this is that support for Windows XP is ending in 2014 , and according to Gartner, it takes the typical business 14 to 18 months to fully migrate to a new OS. Added to the migration challenge is the reality that nearly two thirds of XP applications will need remediation to work with Windows 7, according to Dell’s real world experience. This combined upgrade/application compatibility process can take...

A trip to San Francisco is almost always fun…unless of course you have to drive into city on the 101. But next week, luckily, I’ll be flying in from Texas. Along with me, thousands of people will descend on the Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco for Dreamforce '10, salesforce.com’s annual user and developer conference . Salesforce.com touts the conference as the “Cloud Computing Event of the Year” and with an anticipated record attendance of more than 20,000...
