Dell Solution Center Network Expands in Australia and U.S.
17 May 2012
Dell’s focus on helping our customers “Do More..” was reinforced over the last two weeks as we opened new “Solution Centers” in Sydney and New York City. Interest in these two centers has been huge since we first announced these locations and we already have numerous engagement requests from customers and partners who want to see and test how Dell solutions can meet their unique requirements. Each center was launched with an event attended by customers, alliance partners, channel partners and media. In New York, we were also delighted to meet with several industry analysts. Our guests were invited to tour the centers and experience a diverse range of industry

I’m thrilled to share that Dell has received a Forrester Research Voice of the Customer Award . The award recognizes initiatives that help companies dramatically improve how they collect, interpret and react to customer feedback. This year nearly 40 companies competed for the award and Dell was one of three who won. Dell was chosen after being judged on five areas of customer focus: clarity of its approach, business value to the organization, positive impact on customer experience, innovation...

Several Dell team members, our customers and I participated in Symantec’s annual Government Symposium . The conference discussions focused on the increasing need for government and industry to understand all aspects surrounding their cybersecurity/security technology needs – from supply chain security to cybersecurity policy. One of my key takeaways was that government and industry need take an active role to be informed and aware of cybersecurity/security threats. “Cybersecurity...

As technology plays an increasingly important role in the modern classroom, time wasted in waiting for equipment to be fixed or replaced can cause widespread disruption to teaching and student’s learning. Last month we announced the evolution and expansion of the Connected Classroom learning environment , and I blogged about our range of new products and services that give schools and teachers the confidence and materials to improve the teaching and learning experience. Today we are announcing...

Being ‘green’ is a smart business decision as well as the right thing to do for the planet. That was the overriding message taken from the green IT event we hosted with industry analyst firm Ovum yesterday in London. I was joined at the conference by Ovum analyst Sarah Burnett , WWF ’s sustainable business lead Oliver Greenfield , Dell strategic technologist Vic Smith and about 25 sustainability and IT decision makers from the UK’s public and private sector. The discussion...

Recently, Adobe Labs made the mobile version of Flash 10.1 available to Android users who are running Froyo or version 2.2 . As I mentioned in my Streak post , when the Froyo upate comes to it later this year, it too will have Flash capability. Despite what you might have read from other companies, I think there's still a lot of interest in being able to play Flash content on lots mobile devices and beyond. Earlier, the folks at Adobe also released the desktop version of the Flash 10.1 player...

In late April, members of the Dell OEM Solutions team headed west to the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose, CA. ESC Silicon Valley brings together system architects, design engineers, suppliers, analysts and media from all over the world to share their insights and lean about the embedded market. While I skipped the gown, I felt it an accurate assessment when I was told by a journalist that this seemed like the OEM Solutions Group’s arrival at a debutante ball. Don Dingee of Embedded...

Those of you who read Techmeme noticed we unveiled three new Inspiron laptops yesterday on Dell.com—the Inspiron R family, with 14- , 15- and 17-inch models. From my personal perspective the "R" stands for Redesigned - which these are with the new "hinge forward" design that bring the display at tad closer for better viewing. The new Inspiron R family members also feature new colors in a finish that resemble brushed aluminum (but it's not): an eye-catching Tomato Red...

You’ve heard us say that we’re working to make ‘being green’ easy and cost-effective for our customers. E3 has come and gone again, and as always, it’s been a blur. How it’s possible to cram so many sights and sounds into a short three days will always be a mystery to me. I’ll do my best to give a quick recap of what I saw and heard over the past three days here in lovely Los Angeles, but I must apologize in advance for the details I'll inevitably miss: it's just been that action packed. The Alienware booth was constantly buzzing all three days. People lined up to get their hands on the new...

Listening. That doesn't seem like such a hard thing to do - to listen. But have you really tried it lately? Listening, not just hearing, but full-on, completely committed, totally steppin'-in-what-a-person-is-layin'-down listening can be one of the hardest things you can ever do and love at the same time. Maybe that's why so many companies (including ours from time to time) have such a hard time relating to those who matter most, their customers - they just aren't listening...

It’s football season ! This week, the New York Times reported that New York State joined the list of jurisdictions that have passed laws directed at electronic waste. The law highlights the growing sentiment that all manufacturers should offer free and convenient programs for consumers to return their unwanted PCs and related accessories for responsible recycling or reuse. The key words here are “free” and “convenient.” Consumers say, both in surveys and with their actions, that they don’t...

My friend Mike is a tech geek. He said he was happy to see the day finally arrive that gaming laptops are truly portable, and mentioned...

This is one of those blog posts that represent my personal opinion, not the view of Dell overall. Like a lot of geeky types out there, I've been looking forward to Internet and TV "convergence" for years. That's one reason that I got excited when Google unveiled the concept of Google TV to the world. Sure, merging the two mediums has been tried several times before, but I think video quality on the web is much closer to the quality we're used to getting from cable or satellite...
