In the time since Lionel first blogged about the Sound Blaster Audigy MB software, we've been working with Creative Labs to address the need for an upgrade path for customers who paid for the Windows XP version and did not receive the Vista version.
Later this month, we plan to offer this software to customers via download for free. This version will be equivalent to what Dell factory installs on Vista systems. In order to ensure reliability of the download and upgrade process, we still need a bit more time for additional testing. This testing will be completed soon, and we expect to post the Sound Blaster Audigy MB software by the end of the month.
There are some known issues with this upgrade process due to Vista not finding and caching all the necessary configuration files. For those you experiencing issues with the Sigmatel drivers after performing a Vista upgrade, here’s what you need to do:
See this link for more details on the un-installation process. After your driver have been uninstalled, please reinstall the Sigmatel drivers on support.dell.com.
Update, 4/30: The Vista software for the Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD audio is now available for download. Click here to download.

It'd good to see you posting on Direct2Dell. Especially with good news.
Thank you for letting us know what's going on with the Advanced MB for Vista.
Please be sure to advise those of us who purchased computers with Vista pre-installed by Dell .
We would like to have a fully-functional audio system too.
Bob: My apologies for the delay. I talked this over with Doug, and will update the post shortly to include the link to the desktop driver. You can download the driver for the XPS 400/ 9150 at this link.
The link to the driver you posted is not compatible with my XPS400/9150. I assume that the different driver listed for my computer R147075 is also meant to be covered by your post. please let us know if this is NOT correct. You know what they say about assume............? Thanks for the information. Look forward to the download. Thanks for bringing us up to date on this matter.
Lionel, thank you for the link. I hadn't noticed earlier that Doug is an Audio Systems Engineer for laptops. Reasonable then that he would post a link to laptop systems. Can you confirm that the Sound Blaster Audigy MB software that he refers to as being available when testing is completed, is the same as for the desktops? If not, will it be available at the same time. Thanks for your help on this.
I bought an XPS M1710 directly from Dell in August 2006. This came with the Sound Blaster Audigy MB software CD and license for Win XP. I use this software a lot and am used to it.
Will I have to pay for the Vista compatible version of this software, and if so, how much will it be?
I did NOT get the Vista upgrade from Dell (I bought vista myself from a 3rd party). My hardware warrenty with Dell is through end of 2009
Hi Lionel, I have exactly the same problem as John, above. Also a Dimension 9200...
say you “plan to offer this software to customers via download for
free”, does this mean that a serial is no longer required to use the software
and we have no risk of running into invalid serial problems again?
