From primary storage to archive, Dell is integrating key technologies across our portfolio to meet the needs of a variety of customers and optimize data everywhere. At our Dell Storage Forum event in London last week, customers and channel partners heard Dell executives discuss the strategy behind Dell Storage, our vision for the future, our growing partner sales channel and joint innovation with leading technology alliance partners.  We also unveiled the following new storage solutions to advance our Fluid Data Architecture:

  • Dell DR4000: (available for sale in Q1): Designed for SMBs, the new DR4000 storage platform includes advanced de-duplication and compression capabilities derived from the Ocarina acquisition to increase backup efficiency and reduce costs. DR4000 highlights:
    • Decrease disk capacity and bandwidth requirements by up to 15x
    • Reduce dependency on tape backup
    • Reduce backup storage costs to as low as $0.25/GB
    • Reduce the footprint of backup delivering power and cooling savings in the datacenter
    • Storage capacity up to 100’s of TBs
  • Dell Compellent Storage Center 6.0: Our first Dell Compellent release since the acquisition, this next iteration of self-optimized storage delivers enhanced efficiency and agility. Storage Center 6.0 highlights:
    • Enhanced VMware integration
    • 64-bit support that doubles memory size to improve performance and scale
    • Advanced tiering, thin provisioning, and replication saves money by enabling existing Compellent data centers to realize immediate improvements without a rip-and-replace process

As always, we welcome your feedback on DellShares.
