RAM Upgrade not working

I would like to add 2 more gigs of ram to my dell OptiPlex 780 due to the slow speeds.

When I take out the 2 1gb sticks and pop a 1 4gb stick in it starts beeping and shows a RAM issue enough though the RAM stick works fine in other systems.

Just verify if you are using compatible RAM stick.  It should be DDR3L, non-ECC UDIMM, 1.35V

A CMOS reset via jumper would also help.

Many of Dell OptiPlex were designed to work with either DDR3 or DDR3L.  They are rated at 1.5V and 1.35V respectively.  DDR3 memory won't work when installing into DDR3L DIMM slots.

Did a quick check using Crucial memory compatibility tool as their memory are guarantee to work.  A compatible memory upgrade kit for OptiPlex 780 has listed DDR3L modules.
