Dell M6600 not start after adding additional 8gb RAM

Hello from Ukraine,

I have a 2014 M6600. Currently have two 4GB memory strips installed, and I want to add two more of the same. Bought the same two of 4GB. When I was disassembling the keyboard, I saw a plastic plug installed. Here is the photo https://imgur.com/a/1n4vBgg

I removed the plug, there are two normal slots. Installed two additional same RAM and turn on notebook. It work only few seconds, The display does not show anything, and turned off on its own.

I did not find any restrictions in the BIOS settings. The new memory strips are working, I swapped them (for testing purposes) with the ones that were already installed. They even have the same year of production (via CPU-Z).

Who can tell me what the problem might be? Thanks in advance!

Your system was shipped with i7-2620M processor, with that processor, the memory configurations can support maximum of 2 DIMM only.  The memory slots under the keyboard were disabled.  Those slots are reserved and can only be recognized on systems with i7 Quad-Core or i7 Xtreme processors.

Just for information. I read about the possible support for 16 GB of RAM on https://technical.city/en/cpu/Core-i7-2620M

Plus, there are a lot of videos on YT that show additional memory slots under the keyboard.

Your M6600 with i7-2620M processor does support 16 GB RAM.  You just need to replace current two 4 GB modules with two 8 GB modules.  Although, you can not use the DIMM slots under the keyboard because the memory controller is processors dependency.
