Precision 5860 PCIe Bifurcation Not Working

We have a number of Asus Hyper x16 cards which host 4x M.2 NVMe disks, each running at 4x.

They work great on 5810 and 5820 workstations. They are not working on our 5860s.

The BIOS setting PCIeBifurcation is set to Auto. When I try to change the option to 1x16 it is prohibited??

There is nothing documented stating this is not supported. The documentation simply states two 16x slots, one is PCIe 4.0 and one is 5.0: https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/precision-5860-workstation/precision_5860_tower_ss/internal-slots?guid=guid-bfe5f232-5c27-42f8-9bac-24b29ec170d1&lang=en-us

We have tried swapping the slot the gfx card is in and that of the storage card but no difference.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Are Dell blocking the use of 16x cards? .....Or are Dell blocking the use of non-Dell 16x cards?

Slot 4 is supposedly working with a Dell Zoom cards.  You may want to try with either Dell Ultra speed Duo or Quad.

@Chino de Oro I may not want to use a Dell card at all....

Are you suggesting the Precision devices only support Dell cards?

No, it was just a suggestion to verify your suspicion if Dell is blocking non-Dell adapter.
