Dell Precision 3620, start up problem after upgrade to BIOS version 2.28.0

Hello,

We have a Dell Precision 3620, which has recently received a BIOS upgrade to version 2.28.0. When starting the PC it freezes on the Dell logo for around 7 minutes, then restarts itself and boots correctly.

Normally we would just roll back to a previous version of the BIOS, but there's a note on the download page that you can't return to previous versions.

Has anyone had the same problem, or know if there's a way to revert back to a previous BIOS?

Many Thanks,

Mark

I think you could revert back to previous BIOS version as the note state the following

*  Once the BIOS is upgraded, you cannot downgrade the BIOS to version 2.3.0 or earlier. BIOS downgrades are restricted when there are security updates

The BIOS 2.3.0 was release back in May 2017 and there are many releases in between until current one.

If I may,

before reverting, maybe try to :

- copy the customized settings of the bios

- do a reset from inside the bios

- reapply the customized settings

Mazzinia's BIOS reset is a good idea.

The instructions list RTCRST pins to put the light blue jumper on.  In a 3620, it's CMCLR.
