Swapping T440 2.5 backplane for a 3.5

Hi.

I have a T440 2.5"x16 configuration for the drives.

I'm wanting to know if it's a straight swap out/ plug and play if I ordered a 3.5 backplane and swap out the 2.5 that came factory and then just use adapters from the front of the back plane where the drives would slot in and connect my 3.5 SATA HDD and use a drive cage to mount them internally above the original 2.5 slots.

I have 12 X 22TB Nas Pro HDD that I'd like to use instead of me buying a whole stash of 2.5 drive.
