Need quick help T640 Raid Hot Swappable?

We have a Poweredge T640 Server that has a DELL PERC H330 controller. There are 4 drives configured in RAID10. One of the drives is flashing orange. I have a replacement drive (not spare hotswap) my question is, as im getting conflicting information when searching, is, does this Raid Controller support Hot Swap. Or do I need to power down to replace the dirve?

Hi,

It's not the RAID controller that makes the server's drives hotswappable, it's if the server is installed with a drive backplane. T640 is relatively will have a backplane. Just to make sure, do you see the drives similar to the diagram here: https://dell.to/3upXMT3. They should be in a caddy, drive tray. I presume it does look like it, as you mentioned one of the drives flashing orange.

Firstly, if data is accessible, I strongly suggest doing a full data back before you replace faulty drive. Then proceed to remove the drive (flashing amber). Instructions are here: https://dell.to/3OIKwj4

I assume all information that you provided are correct about the server's configuration. If you are uncertain, I suggest contacting technical support to raise a ticket and quote (if warranty contract is over) for a hardware replacement and checks.

Thank you very much for your help. We were able to successfully replace the drive and after about 12 hours everything is running great again.
