Hi, I think you can use HBA330 card. It supports both SATA and SAS drives. (Dell Host Bus Adapter User’s Guide HBA330 and External 12 Gbps SAS HBA | Dell US)

FEATURE DELL HBA (12 GBPS SAS HBA AND HBA330 CARDS)
Enclosures per port 4 enclosures per port (12 Gbps SAS HBA only)
Processor Dell Adapter SAS I/O controller, 8-port with LSI 3008 chipset
Battery Backup Unit No
Non-Volatile cache None
Cache policy No
Drives Types 3 Gbps SATA, 6 Gbps SATA/SAS, and 12 Gbps SAS
PCIe Support Generation 3
Non-RAID or pass through mode Yes
SAS and SATA technology Yes
NOTE: SATA is not supported on the Dell HBA330 MMZ and 12 Gbps SAS HBA controller cards.
Boot support Yes
Queue depth 9548

But I always recommend the consult a sale department before purchasing any part.

Hope that helps!

@DELL-Erman O

I might be wrong but the HBA330 is a internal one without external ports and its also passthrough only. Its the "12G SAS" variant he needs than.  But the OP needs to answer if RAID is needed or not.

@s658349

For a R730 there are only 2 controllers with external Ports

The "12G SAS" which is a Passtrough/ NON Raid for attaching Tape or direct attached RAID Arrays  or JBOD (and than doring Software raid within your OS) or the H830 with comes with RAID and Cache/Battery.

You should go with NLSAS drives than if SATA is not possible.

Joerg
