Issue After Updating BIOS from 1.24.0 to 1.27.0

OptiPlex 7050 Small Form Factor

OptiPlex 7050 Small Form Factor

I updated my bios from 1.24.0 to 1.27.0 for the Dell Optiplex 7050 SFF. After that, it turned on but there was no display. I thought the bios was bricked until I realized it works after unplugging the power cable into the Power Supply. I have to do that 5-10 times every time I reboot the thing. is there a way to fix that?

Also, I tried the following methods to fix it.

1. Resetting The BIOS. (did not work)

2. Taking Out the CMOS Battery and putting it back in. (Also did not work)

3. UnPlugging the HDMI Cable for both the Monitor and the computer (did not work either)

4. ReWriting the BIOS image

NOTE: sometimes the power LED button indicator will blink an orange light 2 times before turning white. I don't know if that means anything.

Please help me fix this. Thank you.

Could be a failing psu.  Test your pc using a spare compatible psu to confirm the suspicion

Am a little surprise that Red had skipped the basic yet very useful common advise and going straight into troubleshooting step.

Anyway, instead of putting back the old battery, replace it with a fresh, new coin cell and clear CMOS using the system jumper.

@redxps630

unfortunately I don’t have another power supply. And the power supply I have is long rectangular shape. Do I need a OEM power supply from dell to fit my computer?

@Chino de Oro

Thank you. I will try using a different CMOS Battery. Using the system board jumper. If that does not fix the issue I will try using a different power supply.

Just in case you will need power supply replacement, consider used OEM product option:

A used 180w OEM power supply from auction site for $15 (buyer pay for return), or $17 w/free return.

Or, a used 240w OEM power supply for $20 w/free return.

I did a psu test and it is going bad so I need to buy another power supply.

UPDATE: Turns out the PSU test was false. It was a fake result. I reset the bios and everything seems to be working currently. Will give a update when I confirm it is fixed.
