Empty Draft Message Saved in Profile Every Time I Read a Topic

It appears that an empty draft message is saved in my profile each time I read a topic, even when I don't post a reply.  This creates a huge amount of unnecessary clutter in my user profile and pushes my Private Stats (located below the Drafts section) off the dashboard.

For example, I read Ricketts65's thread Inspirion 15 3510 today and the following empty draft message was created in the dashboard of my profile as soon as I browsed to the topic, even though I did not add a reply.

Is it possible to change the forum software so that it only saves draft messages at fixed intervals (e.g., every 2 min) if the user actually starts composing a new reply in the WYSIWYG editor?

According to Khorus, this is working as designed. There is not an option to stop these drafts from being created.

Before they ask...go ahead and clear the browser cache and history, etc. Retest to confirm.

I will do some testing of your account and post back my findings.

Rosie, I, and Brad could all replicate the issue when signed in as you. So far no one else has reported the issue. We will email Khorus with our findings.

By the way, did you replicate in multiple browsers?

Hi DELL-Chris M:

Yes, this also occurs if I use MS Edge v106.0.1370.47 (with or without browser extensions disabled).

As a test I logged in to the Dell Community using my MS Edge browser, browsed to the Dell XPS Desktops board (which I rarely, if ever, visit) and opened Dfleming17's 17-Oct-2022 topic XPS 8950, no audio?. I did not add a reply to this topic, but when I checked my profile a few minutes later there was a draft message saved for this topic.

Just an FYI that my default Firefox v106.0 browser is configured at Privacy & Security | History | Clear History When Firefox Closes | Settings to clear everything on exit (including my Internet cache and cookies) except my Browsing & Download History.

I should also add that creation of these empty draft messages in my profile is not a new behaviour. I first noticed this glitch many months ago but didn't bother to report it until now. I've just gotten in the habit of deleting the all the draft messages in my profile every four or five days so I can see the Private Stats section of my profile. If this glitch affects other "regular" users who don't have elevated privileges then it's possible that many aren't even aware that there is a Private Stats section at the bottom of their profile below these accumulated draft messages.

Thank you for passing my concerns on to Khorus, and kudos to you, Brad and Rosie for testing.

Hi,

I have found the "empty draft message" on my profile page as Imacri has. I delete them to conserve space on my profile page.
