S2721DGF, goes black until power cycle, *FIXED*

Today my S2721DGF out of nowhere began going black after 20-40 seconds, and would not show anything until I pressed the power button twice.

The screen is not 'showing' black, it is no longer lit. The power button -is- lit.

The screen does not drop from Windows provisioning (e.g., my second screen does not start acting as the 'main' screen) until I press the power button. The sound of a device being disconnected also plays.

When I press the power button a second time, the screen returns and becomes the main screen again.

Things I have already tried:

  • changing Auto Input to "no"
  • Turning off G-Sync
  • Turning off HDR
  • Leaving the system and monitors alone and unpowered for 12 hours
  • Re-seating DisplayPort plug on graphics card and monitor
  • Trying different DisplayPort plugs on my graphics card

Any advice on how to fix this problem would be appreciated.

Edit: fixed it by unplugging it for 20 seconds. Thanks, Dell tech support!

Thanks for posting the update. Generally, disconnecting the monitor power cable from the monitor itself and holding in the power button for 8 seconds will "hard reset" the monitor.

Also, this Best Buy purchased S2721DGF has not been "registered" into your name yet. Go HERE. Insert the private Service Tag. Then click, "Register your device".
