2007FP, Chromecast Gen 1,

I am trying to use an older 2011 Dell 2007FPb  monitor with a 2013 Chromecast Gen1. See pictures of the setup and model number/serial number of the monitor.

As the 2007FPb has no HDMI port, I use this adapter and using it in the VGA port (see pictures). I have not been able to get anything to load on the screen when in VGA mode expect the note about “Out of range signal. Cannot display this video mode, change computer display input to 1600x1200.”

I have tested this same setup (adapter and Chromecast) on another LG monitor I have (see photo of it’s spec plate) and it works well, so I know the adapter works. Is there a way I can change the resolution on the monitor itself?  Would a similar adapter for the DVI port solve this issue?

Pictures here.

Thanks

When connected to the LG monitor, what is the resolution shown on the LG?

2007FP User's Guide page 5 shows the 2007FP resolutions.

Hi Chris.

I made this video to answer your question: https://youtu.be/2N-VdSyTkf0 .... there is no displayed resolution on the LG monitor and navigating through the menus does not find one.

Any other ideas?
