Wireless WiFi network?

My desktop will not connect to wireless WiFi. Networks do not appear in icon in lower right hand corner. It appears that wireless capability is turned off. How can I get to wireless settings?

The exact model number of your system is needed in order to help diagnose the issue. In general though are you sure that you have a Wifi card installed and if so that function may be disabled in the BIOS.

In addition to what @JOcean asked, also Include version of Windows too.

  1. If you see ^ symbol in Notification area, click it to see if Network icon is just hidden
  2. If not hidden, right-click empty area of taskbar and select Task Bar Settings
  3. Scroll down to Notification Area
  4. Click Select which icons can appear in taskbar
  5. On new screen, make sure Network has permission to appear
  6. You may have to reboot before that icon appears, if you had to give it permission
