Replacing fan on CPU Heatsink Model # VWD01
Dell G5 5000
Hello,
I have Dell G5 5000 with heatsink model# VWD01.
I was wondering if it's possible (and OK) to only replace the Fan between the Heatsink? I would like to put an Arctic or Noctua brand fan between the heatsink for better performance but little quitter.

you can. it is a standard 4 pin pwm fan. based on photo my guess would be a 80x80x25 mm fan but you should confirm its dimensions before ordering a replacement fan of same size.
beware that third party fan rpm too different from Dell oem fan may trigger startup error. performancewise they would not be better than Dell oem fan. but they run at lower rpm and therefore quieter
there are small screws you need to loosen first before you uninstall the fan only
