Inspiron 3910 won't stay connected to wifi

Inspiron 3910

Inspiron 3910

My Inspiron 3910 disconnects to the wifi but no other device disconnects.  The only way I can get it to reconnect is to restart the router.  This has been happening 2 - 3 times a day for the last couple of weeks.  Any thoughts?

try clean install of Win 10.

if issue persists on clean OS

time to replace / upgrade Wi Fi card or simply get a USB Wi Fi dongle and use that instead of internal Wi Fi

my 3847 (one of them) had very slow Wi Fi speed.  I replaced with the same DP/N from another 3847.  works good now shows Wi Fi card can deteriorate

Is the advice the same if I am running Windows 11?  Sorry to leave that out of OP

yes the same.  first rule out driver issue by using Microsoft found "best" driver which is usually good enough.  second r/o HW issue

What's "r/o"?

Is this a PC WiFi card problem or is it actually a router problem, since restarting the router restores the connection?

Have you looked on Power Management tab for the WiFi card in Device Manager to make sure it's not set to "Allow PC to turn off..."?

Is Win 11 Power & Sleep screen set to "Best Performance"?

In the active Win 11 Power plan (on its Advanced settings screen), make sure Hybrid Sleep, USB Selective Suspend, PCI-Express Link State Management are all disabled, and Wireless Adapter is set to Max Performance.

Also on that Advanced settings screen, under Processor Power Management, set Min and Max Processor State to 100%.

Be sure to save the changes, reboot and test WiFi again...
