i5 -8400T comparability with Inspiron 660

Recently, i’ve been trying to upgrade my dell inspiron 660 to handle more games. So, i’ve been interested in upgrading my current processor ( i5-3330) to an i5 8400t. Would this new processor be compatible with my motherboard? I’ve been wondering if this processor would work since this new processor is an 8th gen. If this processor doesn’t work, what can I upgrade my processor to that will give a noticeable difference in terms of performance?

Due to Intel produced different CPU sockets for its generations, your Inspiron 660 can support 2nd and 3rd generation processors only.  The i5-8400t is 8th generation processor and can not be used on your system.

not much to do with old 660 motherboard in terms of modern gaming capabilities unless you play old games at low settings.  Concur w chino on the cpu.

good thing is 660 case supports standard microATX mobo upgrade. so just get a 300 series motherboard which can support 8400T.  it has to be standard mATX.  Z370 or H370 are good chipset.  B360 works too.
