Technology vendors have been vocal in the press lately about the downturn is going to impact their companies, but haven’t connected the dots on how they are helping partners weather the storm.

Dell is taking a different approach. In a recent e-mail to Dell employees, Michael Dell directed his employees to be proactive in reaching out to partners to see how Dell can help them simplify and save in order to help them grow their businesses in a down economy.

“When the economy recovers, partners will remember the companies that served them well in bad times,” said Michael Dell in his e-mail.

Today, Dell launches a blog called “Simplify and Save” to listen to partners on the challenges they are currently facing and how Dell can help. The site features Michael Dell’s first-ever external blog post, underscoring the importance he places on helping partners survive and thrive during this downturn.

Feedback from our partners indicates that Dell’s simplified channel program is already helping partners grow their business during lean times. Certified Partners are 143% more productive than non-certified, selling more than twice the amount of EqualLogic than their non-certified counterparts.

I think we can all agree that one of the elemental keys to success in business is marketing. Without marketing people don’t know about your business or products, what services you can offer them, or how you make their lives easier and more organized. The problem is that we, as consumers, have become so jaded to TV and Radio commercials, billboards, and print and Internet ads that we not only just don’t believe it anymore, sometimes we just don’t get it at all. Exactly how does an oversized inflatable gorilla atop a building correlate to me buying a new car? So now the real challenge isn’t getting your message out there, it’s getting people to believe your message is true (and somewhat relevant to your business). As a business or marketing firm, this isn’t easy, but as a consumer… that’s where the real marketing is.

Testimonials are by far the best and most accurate way of getting a good feel for what a product or service does and how well it works before actually making the commitment to engage your time and money in it. A few months ago I wrote about CFI and how it can help you help your customers get up and running faster, and with less headaches for both of you. Today I’ve come back to share some comments from actual customers who’ve used CFI and how it affected their business.

Read a little on how CFI has helped people in industries like Medical care, Education, Automotive, Film, and Food, to get better resources, faster IT, and smoother implementations, and then decide if CFI can help you help your customers do the same.
