Scripting external elements with Site Recovery Manager

VMware's SRM (Site Recovery Manager), which was announced this week, can accommodate a number of critical elements that are external to VMware system stuff that should be part of a system recovery at a remote site. This is another video made at our BOF last September at VMworld in San Francisco.

This one features Kiran Ranabhor, Technical Product Manager for DR, VMware.

Hi,

Very nice article. Sometime these option doesn't help. In this situation you can use Stellar phoenix Linux recovery software which is easy to use and easily recover your lost data. I have tried it and recovered my lost files.

For the OS's that SRM does not support (i.e. HP-UX, Solaris, AIS) as well as the physical x86 servers that do not fit in the VMware model, you'll need to turn to a solution like Racemi's (a VMware partner) DynaCenter product to work in tandem with your SRM VMware environment.

 I'm fairly certain that Linux is supported.  I don't think the logic of SRM cares what the underlying OS is.  I'm checking for an official "final answer" now.

Does anyone know if Site Recovery Manager supports Linux?  Everything I can find on Site Recovery Manager talks all about recovering Windows systems but no mention of Linux.  We are very interested in SRM but about 60% of our critical business systems run on Linux so I'd love to see someone mention that I can script my Linux recoveries as well.
