How can dell take the time to get ubuntu working but can't be bothered to release vista 64-bit drivers for the m1530? Some products have 64-bit drivers and some dont. Dell, please clean house and get 64-bit drivers for all your products before you run around playing with linux.Most people (including myself) have used the m1330 64bit drivers with some precision drivers thrown in. 80% of the correct vista 64bit drivers are already available, it can't take that much time to put them under the 1530 and get the last 20% working (webcam, soundblaster audigy HD software edition).

and finally, please update your graphics drivers much much much more often. Newer video drivers are released almost weekly and can seriously improve performance. Quit forcing people to go to laptopvideo2go and risk messing up their PCs.

What about releasing this in India? The only thing that keeps me from buying this laptop is that I'm going to have to pay for Vista too. My needs are adequately met by Ubuntu and I don't have to worry about viruses, spywares etc. I hope Dell is making a note of the demand for Ubuntu pre installed laptops from all around the world and not only the US.

How about the Studio 17? I was thinking about getting one and installing Ubuntu (and wiping Vista), except that the BIOS is only updateable from Vista. If it was available with Ubuntu preinstalled, and with a BIOS I could upgrade in that config, I would buy one.

I'm very happy to see Dell preinstalling Linux on their machines.

Where is the m1530 with Ubuntu? It's not on the site. Only the Studio 15. My credit card is waiting.

Offer Details section says: "Ubuntu 8.04 with DVD Playback"

But Tech Specs say Vista

Also the Design section is talking about some Dell Dock, video chat, which probably doesn't apply to Ubuntu version

Dell Malaysia is not offering any Ubuntu System as of now.Why is the offerings always have to be US first?Why can't just launch it worldwide?Agreed with Alan Campbell why the need to restrict the market.Dell is not going to lose anything by having a worldwide launch.I like Dell product but the restriction of product offerings make me puke

I configured XPS M1530 2 days back with ubuntu & now its just gone.... both 1530 & Studio not available NOW..... Looks like Dell got the news out early without testing them completely :)
