Dell XPS 630 and LightFX

So it's March 2009 and I just received my 630 and it has no way to control the LED lights.

Did Dell decide not to make the LightFX change as originally posted?

I feel like I spent 1900 bucks on a computer that's not completely finished.

Right there with you Josh, still waiting.

I was first in line for one of these and excited for the light fx.

I thought returning the first busted 730 with the ATI GPU's took a long time, but thats a different story.

GX2 is much better.

Where is the Update!

So 4 months later nothing happening at all... i'd appreciate an update... i bought the xps730 at a premium and considering that i'd believe that there should be premium support and software available for it.

I just recieved my two new 730's.. my 4 dell 24" ultra sharps still haven't arrived but thats a different gripe.

So after 30 minutes of trying to turn the darn thing on I opened the side of the case only to find the 24 pin molex from the psu to the motherboard to be only half seated. Once I seated it it ran fine, but after a few reboots and service pack updates the nic keeps reseting to dhcp or dropping the gateway. Now I get a mfc71.dll error when ever I try to access the nvidia control panel. I can't find the drivers or software for the control panel anywhere, not on the cd, not on dells website and the generic ones on nvidia's site crash half way through the install and render my nics useless.

Onto the second 730. Out of the box the second monitor refused to work until i spent a hour downloading and updating/reinstalling the ATI drivers and catalyst control panel, now the second monitor works..

I've purchased hundreds of dells for my clients and never ran into these sorts of issues before which led me to purchase my first NON hand built gaming rig(s) i'm not 100% regretting it yet but this is not off to a good start and its only day two.

Promises made promises broken. I know that Dell says you can return the system, but honestly is that really viable after having a pc for 3 months and selling off my old pc? I work for a rather large Dell consumer company in IT provisioning and find that they treat our EPP customers this way. Very sad indeed... Next year is an RFP year and this will come into play in our dealings I am sure.

Okay here we are all the way into September and I for one cannot find LightFX 2.0 or let alone LightFX 3.0! Correct me if I'm wrong but this is WAY off schedule here (as usual I should mention!). Can anyone provide me a link if it has in fact been released unbeknowing to little old me.

I spent the cold hard cash just like everybody else and I would like it too! If you don't mind me saying, what a lame thing to do anyway, pass it on to Alienware because they're and I quote, "the trendsetters of the gaming industry". Forgive me but I've owned an Alienware Area 51m-7700, I'm sorry my mistake, make that TWO Area 51m-7700's and an MJ12m-7700 (that's 3 OVERPRICED systems in case anyone is counting) and getting rid of the happiest days of my life. If wanted another horrible Alienware experience like I had with those, I would've just bought another one.

What I wanted was a SUPERIOR SYSTEM and I found that in Dell Computer not Alienware, period. I've have my experiences with Dell and they've ALWAYS been in a class by themselves, First Class that is!

I'll never go back to Alienware and as far as I'm concerned any one of my XPS's (and I have had a total of sixof them) has been by far BETTER than any system from Alienware - desktop or notebook - or from anywhere else!

While it was a sound business decision to acquire Alienware on a personal level I think it was/is a mistake.

As Dell has announced it's clear the reign of an XPS System is something of the past, but why? While Michael Dell has reinvigerated hid baby since his return why can't there still be XPS Gaming Systems that can co-exist with Alienware?

From the new case designs to everything "under the hood" make an XPS THE system coveted most gamers. Why bury a product line long considered to be the pinnacle of computer gaming while your still churning out top notch systems that have the potential to reign on top for many years to come?

There's nothing out there by Asus, HP, or Sony that'll sway an XPS Owner away from Dell. I love my XPS's and want the same cool apps that came with them to stick around but why can't they be kept current by updating them rather than just being drop altogether?
